PR Earthquake - Spring Like Severe Weather Outbreak in Winter in South - Winter 2020

Puerto Rico just can't get a break.
Well the Earth is breaking...
...rocking and rolling today.
Yes, PR is earthquake country.
We hear about Hispaniola more...
...but you got mountains you have earthquakes.
Fault lines run through the Caribbean.
Hurricanes attack the Caribbean.
Jamaica has had earthquakes and hurricanes together.
You learn a lot from studying history and geology.

Here's your general video below.
It began yesterday and continues on today.
Aftershocks continue today.
Hurricanes don't have aftershocks.
When they are gone... it's over.
And you clean up.
Earthquakes don't work that way.

It goes without saying they need help.
Charity and prayers.
Or give your favorite charity there you trust.

I've been back in Raleigh getting back into a routine, unpacking, cleaning up, doing laundry and trying to remember where I was before I left. For all the journals I keep I really should have one that says "After Traveling ... Get Back on Track Fast" as every wonderful trip means coming back to the every day routine and research I work on as well as every day routines. I have a trip to Seattle coming up but the date is not set just yet. Miami, Monsey ... am I really back in Raleigh? Yes, and to be honest I like being home in Raleigh these days. The air is cooler and it's easier to breathe yet today we are hovering between "nice ... feels cold" and "why does it feel so raw today?" and I know why it's because rain is moving in and the skies are gray and it's a North Carolina Winter Day when you feel if it's this cold it should snow but the cold front is dry this time so all you get is cold, winter rain.

It's been an odd and interesting winter but so far snow has had a problem finding it's way to the Mid Atlantic or the South while sliding along just North of NYC and attacking New England as to be honest Winter is supposed to do because that way we have small towns covered in snow that look like a Greeting Card promising a Winter Wonderland. When you live South of the Mason Dixie Line you got to be realistic about how much snow you are going to get in any given Winter but still it is NORTH Carolina so the chances are there ... somewhere... sometime...distantly down the road. I have a friend in North Dakota, I miss that friend... should I go visit her?  With every week that passes things change subtly and supposedly change is in the air...

clt_None_anim.gif (768×496)

To be honest.... the mountains get some snow.
But everyone else got rain.
Speaking of rain in the South.
The set up for the next cold front....
...and abundant tropical moisture.
Is creating a Spring Like Set up...
No it's not Spring...
We haven't had winter yet.
But it's that sort of set up.
Progression of fronts....
...and a flow from the Gulf of Mexico.
Watch the next one down the road..

Being honest I am not 24/7 watching loops.
I watch... I do a model or a two.
I read a bit from people I respect.
Then I try not to obsess.
Not my neck of the woods... I don't care.
Being honest.. weather is locational.
Watching other people get snow is not fun.
Would @icyclone chase a thunderstorm?
Because he's bored and there's no Hurricanes to chase?
Nah... neither would I.
I love it all ...don't get me wrong.
But I want the weather ... I want snow.
I'm less a dreamer or watcher as much as doer.
And if I can't "do" weather today the way I want.
I'm probably doing something else.
I do have hobbies ya know...

As is the earthquake as it's in our Tropical World.
Wrong Earth Science but Mother Nature does her thing.
Luckily we don't have the fires they do in Australia.
Somewhere Mother Nature is always throwing..
a temper tantrum.

You can watch the forecast below.
The reliable forecast.
Short term vs long term.
Fronts are making it into Florida.
They are making it into North Carolina.
But for now we be getting rain not snow.

allfcsts_loop_ndfd.gif (799×559)

The middle of the country is getting RAIN.
Insert song "Rain on your wedding day"

That is a lot of rain.

Checking with Spaghetti Models
(which I always do every day)

Winter with it's snow is way up North.
But it's cold in North Carolina today.
Then it warms up to "why am I here?"
I stay here hoping for now.
No snow I should hit the road.
Myrtle Beach Hotels are sending me ads.
"Please come...we are open and cheap!"
Basically that's what they say...

To be honest I'm tired of hype.
A lot of hype on the news lately.
A lot of hype in the weather....
When you have a real strong WINTER pattern.
You don't need hype do you?
It's there... in your face... happening.
Like "Oh my gosh" ;)
Wait a few days you'll see.
Today we have a thin sliver of a front.

I won't say what that system looks like to me.
Use your imagination.
But you see the real problem is the next one.
Down the road still.

Not hype... or symbols on Apps that come and go.
But the real deal...

On Twitter.......

Cranky is also the real deal.
If you can understand his maps.
You are lucky because they are so good.
I can, I love them.
I love maps...as most of you know.

Everyone has their own needs.
Everyone likes a different style.
Good meteorological maps are always in style.

As for me I kind of feel like this today.
"That's the system now I'm outta here..."
Occurs to me that's a Mars symbol.
I told you .. I have other hobbies.

Also on Twitter...
I enjoy his videos.
Maybe I just like his voice.
Seriously... he knows weather...
...and astrology and I said I have other hobbies.
Historically storms do show up during the Solstice.
And often they show up during Eclipse times.
I don't ask why... I just watch and notice.

It's January far from Hurricane Season.
I'm into watching and noticing.
And enjoying good music...

I'll be back.
Just checking in... looking around.
Saying hello and wishing you all well.

There's nothing happening in the Tropics today.
Not my tropics.
Down the road winter comes back.
Cold air colliding with warm air.
Is always messy.

Happy 2020.
There's a Lunar Eclipse coming up.

Maybe I'll blog about it in a few days.
Full Wolf Moon Eclipse....
Yeah...

Do some research...
...I'll be back soon enough.

Have an incredible day!

Hurricane Season 4 Months Away. School in PR JUST Got Electric Back While Much of PR is STILL in the DARK. Lunar Eclipse Photos.

Remember when?
The 2017 Hurricane Season seems like the past.
But in Puerto Rico it's an ongoing story.
It's an ongoing struggle.

Yesterday was one of the inspiring sort of days when images flood my feed from the Lunar Eclipse. Each image had it's own beauty; some taken with cellphones and others with expensive cameras. Each one caught a different angle. But the most inspiring moment yesterday came when the video of power being restored to a school in Puerto Rico was shown in those same social media feeds. Yesterday, 112 days after Hurricane  Maria slammed into Puerto Rico the power was turned back on in one school where children cheered. Mind you the children had been learning without the electric on as life goes on even without the use of lights or air conditioning and trust me Puerto Rico can be hot in September and October. It can be hot all year some years when cold fronts don't make it down that far into the Caribbean.

I remember after Hurricane Andrew in 1992 when a fleet of power trucks made it to my block everyone began gathering on the sidewalk, staring out of windows and watched and waited for that moment when the power came on. After word spread that they said they hoped to have it on my later in the day the wait began. People positioned themselves by their windows watching as if it was the Super Bowl. And, I have to tell you when the electric comes on the first thing you notice is the noise not the lights. There is this sudden burst of sounds you are used to every day running in the background but that were silent for weeks in 1992 on my street. People waved and cheered as if a battle had been won. That battle, that struggle is still going on today in February of 2018 as a good part of Puerto Rico is still without power. School by school they are trying to get back to normal. Normal will be much longer for small homes in villages that may wait until news of the new 2018 Hurricane Season is around the corner.

This really worries me as this season is forecast by many to be just as busy if not busier than the 2017 Hurricane Season. Much depends on how strong the tropical waves are and where the high sets up and where hurricanes will go once they formed.  Hopefully none will take aim directly at some place like Puerto Rico the way Maria did in September of 2017.

Yes this is a gentle reminder.
2018 Hurricane Season begins in 4 months!
As we battle the flu this winter.
The hurricane season is lurking out there.
No flu shot against the Hurricane Season.
But you can prepare.
Now is the time to think on what you need.
Moving to Wyoming really isn't an option...
So prepare. Please.

Now let's talk on the moon.
The Sunrise Eclipse.
Bloody Red.
Blue Blood.
This eclipse had so much hype.
And it seems to have lived up to the hype.
Enjoy the pic my brother took in Florida.

He's popular on Instagram for his photography.
Sweet and golden.

My brother (in South Florida where it's warm) woke up early and went out in search of the beautiful moon. He lives near a lake, he has a nice view of the Western sky and it worked out perfectly for him. He took that dramatic picture shown above. If I could have watched from my yard I'm sure I'd been out there.

I have to be honest I didn't bundle up and wander around any fields in NC looking for a good view of the eclipse that was low to the horizon just before dawn in my neck of the woods. I know where I probably could have gone but decided to pass on it. I've just gotten past the flu and I didn't want to risk a relapse. I did get a nice picture earlier in the evening the night before just as it was rising at dusk. Dusk is probably one of my favorite times of the day and it's always hard to get a good shot with my phone that tries to adjust the color; smart isn't always so smart it seems. But there the moon was hanging over North Hills in Raleigh looking spectacular. I figured after getting such a nice view I should call it a victory and watch the eclipse online from under the covers. Thanks for everyone who sent me awesome pictures. My picture below when the moon was rising hours before the actual eclipse.

Luckily Michael McGee took the picture below; an awesome, magical picture in Charleston that Shea Gibson shared on Twitter. Look at that... incredible.

Oddly another beautiful shot was in black and white of the International Space Station seen across the face of the moon. My brother in Greece used to follow the ISS years back, not sure if he still does and my local weather forecaster in Raleigh showed the image on TV as he's a fan. Many people enjoy trying to get a glimpse of the ISS. https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/ Many local weather people on the nightly news mention when it's going to be visible in their area. Great picture.

As for the weather forecast...
It's going to get rocky again soon.
There is much talk about a storm forming.
A winter storm.

See those swirls out West...
They be moving this way soon.

Stay tuned.

Ps For everyone battling the flu .... feel better, hang in there and lay low and take it slow and get healthy fast!

Enjoy the fun video with the beautiful song hidden inside :) You know when you are from Miami when everyone in this video looks so normal... and yeah I've broken a few flip flops throwing them :(

UPDATED MODEL DISCUSSION .. Models Go Crazy After the Eclipse ..Tropics & the Eclipse... 2017 1999 .. Watching Harvey and 92L Still and New BIG Wave Over Africa

I'm going to do a update on models.
As some of you may be wondering..
..on 92L and Harvey.
Now that the Eclipse is Over.

One of the last visible images of the day, as the sun sets for the second time today... you can see both areas we are watching. The remnants of Harvey can be seen with a gentle arcing look reminiscent of a tropical system. A weak sort of pulse, but it has not yet pulled back together. Original model forecasting showed the time for strengthening is maximum in the BOC. So we are watching... As for 92L, what can I say? It's not there very clearly, though there is some sense of vorticity as shown below. And, it is about to move over some of the warmest water in the Atlantic so if it is going to organize, now would be a good time. Yet, please remember if the "center' isn't concise, aligned or viable then you just have a tropical wave with some spin and a lot of rain. And, in this case, it doesn't have much rain let alone spin. And, yet it is there on the doorstep of a heavily populated paradise and seriously needs to be monitored closely. And, the NHC is monitoring it so sit back, check back often and pay attention to any late breaking weather alerts if you live in Florida.

The two yellow blobs show "something" is there.

The shear is lessening as I type this...

Yet 92L is hard to find below.

Ex Harvey is easier to see.

So let's say either of these develop where would they go? Harvey would end up in the BOC poised to move towards the Tex Mex area and when I say TEX Mex I mean Texas pay attention. The last thing some areas of Texas needs is a tropical anything wandering around the coast of the Gulf of Mexico dumping rain in it's path as it moves slowly. That is a possibility. New model runs show it as a possibility more often than just crashing into Tampico. Sometimes this time of year the steering currents, between frontal boundaries, go weak and storms sit there creating flooding situations. That part of the coast has had problems often this summer with localized flooding. See the newest model run below for what Harvey may be down the road again. As far East as the Sabine River ... and moving East finally with the front. Different from going into Mexico and dying... if it is reborn.

Yeah, we might have a problem.
Adding to that 92L.
The latest models went funky.
Perhaps it was the Eclipse.
Next model run might look right again.

It's hard to deal with the models above.
Easy to say it doesn't form fast..
wanders weakly chasing Harvey.
For a while ...
..then wanders around the GOM.
(VERY WARM WATER)
Criss Crosses Florida.
Maybe it visits the moon?

rb-animated.gif (720×480)

Waiting on next model runs...
Luckily there isn't much there now.

Stay tuned.
Watch them both.
Even if they seem weak.
They could develop.
And the water is warm..

As for the Eclipse... I'll probably write long tomorrow. It was kind of awesome in a way. It definitely got darker in Raleigh, a gritty sort of dusky look as if I lived in LA again and pollution was strong however the sky was blue. Kids hung out borrowing a few pair of glasses a nice lady had who lives nearby and put aside their home made cereal box viewers. What was to me most amazing is the shadows the oak tree made on the pavement. And, when the wind blew it looked like little laterns dancing around on the ground below.

Amazing how an eclipse in the sky.
Could be painted onto the pavement.

It was really beautiful.

The picture on the left was taken about 80% ...
After it already got a bit darker.
The picture on the right was at 92%

Gritty, dusky...
As if your eyes got funny for a few minutes.

It was fun... loved it.
Now back to the tropics.

From satellite imagery.

Before above..
...during below.

Let's hope those models are helpful tomorrow.

Thanks for being here with me.

Tropical Discussion at the bottom.
Scroll down if you're in a rush..

I'm going to let the tropics take back burner in ways today to the Eclipse as being honest here everyone that watches the sky is thinking on the eclipse today. Some call it the Great American Eclipse (something Julius Caesar might wince on) and locally it's called the Great Carolina Eclipse. Some regions of the country are mini centers of local pride and the Carolinas is one of those places. There is no Mason Dixie here between the North and South though there is a BBQ sauce line that defines the type of BBQ sauce we use or prefer. There's also a fault line between the higher parts of Carolina and the lower parts, the parts where the rivers run... where the Sandhills begin and you lose the dark red clay most people think is only in Georgia. When driving on the expressway you can't tell where one ends and one begins; it's a subtle change and the change is always more dramatic from West to East than from North to South.

I'm not in the path of totality and that decision to not to join in today's temporary migration to those places where the sun won't shine for a bit less than 3 minutes was made a while ago. It will be 92% here in Raleigh and I don't think that's an omen for me writing about 92L as much as a reminder to me personally that 1992 was the year I went through Hurricane Andrew on Miami Beach. I'm a weather historian of sorts and everything connects in my mind to some other place or time.

So this here "Great Carolina Eclipse" in 2017 is part of a cycle of eclipses known as Saros Cycle 145. The last time this cycle happened was 1999, August to be exact and the date August 11, 1999 still connects in my strange mind to "Eclipse Day" as much was made of that eclipse that started just to the East of the USA and it came during a busy Hurricane Season.

So let's go back to 1999. Ironically, as busy as 1999 was, we were basically just watching waves then as nothing had really popped of note. Okay, the normal BOC happened prior to the eclipse as a depression and Arlene formed "early" in June and everyone said you can't judge a season by the date of the first storm. 1999 was known as busy as there were FIVE Category 4 Hurricanes. The season came alive after the Eclipse, as most hurricane seasons do when we remember September is here and Pre Season is finally over. Prime time in the tropics begins.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Atlantic_hurricane_season

Oddly we had the same name list was we have this year, however Floyd got dropped from the list after dropping obscene amounts of rain on North Carolina (as Matthew did last year) creating a huge flooding disaster going down as one of the weather stories of the year. We also had Irene which was infamous for causing flooding in the Miami area that was not originally forecast to get any weather from the storm. Seems a similar sort of confusing year regarding the models. It was a wet year in the Miami area that summer and I've been concerned this year that South Florida is due for a late season storm out of the Caribbean catching a cold front. So keep that in mind in a month of so..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Irene_(1999)

Looks familiar doesn't it?
Tracks are below.
Long trackers.
1999 = Cape Verde Storms.
2017 = Cabo Verde Storms.

Long coastal cruiser storms.
Caribbean action.

Check out the monthly totals below.

We had only just begun...
...now we are looking for the I storm

Oddly the 8/11/1999 eclipse was considered big by many as it was the one coming before the Millenium. In 1999 we were all about the Millenium coming and the calendar turning over to the year 2000. There was a massive sense that time was changing, we were moving forward fast into a new century.

Today's eclipse shadow crosses the whole expanse from West to East of the United States. A slim pickens sort of path that will see totality for a little less than 3 minutes. It being the last days of summer, people have planned out their summer vacations to see the Eclipse for a while now. Here in Raleigh the Chabad Synagogue had morning prayers and people got off I-95 to detour to Raleigh to catch a daily prayer service on their way to catch the total eclipse later today in South Carolina. Saturday we had a family staying in town on their way to Asheville to see the Eclipse from Monsey New York.. people be on the move this week. The highways are full and watches have been put out for people to drive safe, do not look at the sun while driving, do not wear the Eclipse glasses while driving and to take water, snacks and phone battery chargers along in case you get stuck on the road some where. Others are glued to their TV or an App or just watching online. Others keep asking me "so this eclipse, it's today?" and I suppose they are watching Neftlix a whole lot more than TWC.

2017 Eclipse.

2017 Hurricane Season so far...
...busier so far than 1999 go figure.

With regard to this year's eclipse as always it's all about weather. My daughter in law is with her brother in Oregon where the weather should be better than where friends of mine are in Charleston waiting on the Eclipse. As always it's all about timing and location when hoping to see an Eclipse. There is a chance of showers and clouds in the beautiful coastal cities of South Carolina that are filled with people on beaches hoping to get that perfect memory. Time as always will tell, Tuesday would have worked better.

And the big Eclipse map is below.

If you want to know the weather..
..watch TWC they are doing Eclipse weather all day.

Whatever today's eclipse means to you enjoy the day. To me it means TWC will go back to covering the weather. It means we are one day closer to cooler temperatures and the possibility of more than Invests on the front page of the NHC. Harvey is forecast to possibly come back to life in some form and head towards the Tex Mex region as seen below.

Alfred is correct.
92L will make FL messy ...
But it still has not formed.
Yet they say it may close in.
Hmnn...

Our NHC product below has 3 Xs.

Area of formation for 92L includes Disneyworld...

In September of 1999 we were tracking 3 as well.

Will that happen in 2017 soon?
Looks a lot like the CMC model..
Look at that new African Wave...
..Labor Day is coming.
Hmnnn...

Stay tuned...
Stay safe!
Have a blast today...

@bobbistorm

Ps I have to tell you I can "feel" the eclipse energy today. The cicadas are out early making noise, the sunshine is bright and I can kind of feel a sense of something going on. I'm staying busy, going out for a bit, watching as I do the world around me and I'll be watching to see exactly what 92% in Raleigh will be like. Many say it won't be much, but I'm not expecting much so my expectations are low. Going to try that grater idea and maybe a pin hole or maybe I'll sit a spell and just write whatever comes into my mind in my journal. Who knows.. Remembered last night it was nephew's birthday in Greece and today my nephew in Miami's birthday. Go figure on Eclipse Day... there's something to think on..

10 PM. Updated! Harvey Remnants at 70% of Reforming & The Eclipse. 92L and Florida. Models. Forecasts. Famous Writers That Look Like Harvey...

Just a note on models.
These could verify....
IF...
92L forms..

My concern at this point is not IF 92L becomes Irma before South Florida .... my concern is that the rain from a tropical wave that has traveled across the Atlantic (even a weak wave/Invest) can cause huge flooding problems in South Florida if the system moves towards Florida and steering currents fall apart for a few days. Eventually a front IS coming down, but until then it can take long drives going nowhere up and down A1A and I95 causing massive misery just being a strong, tropical wave. I have confidence that should anything close off and develop then the NHC would (in theory) post some sort of warning. The NWS posts watches and warnings but it's like a tree falling in the forest and no one is listening. So please watch this situation as the set up is ripe for locally heavy flooding and I sure hope all those drains are unclogged and the pumps are working. We will know soon enough. It could in theory slip up the Treasure Coast and ignore South Florida after all. It's a fluid situation and models do show development close in... as in home grown. Well like a transplanted tourist from Dakar.

...and if Harvey comes back to life.

Update on Ex Harvey and 92L

First 92L as it's moving towards Florida.

IF only the large African wave formed.
There's a big, huge ULL
Black Cane there devouring it with shear.

But as for 92L... really impt to watch.
Just keep watching.
Knowledge is power..

This is what Jim said about that.
And you don't mess around with Jim.
He KNOWS when to keep his eyes on it!
So you better too!
NHC gave it 30% at 2 PM.
Hmnnn

latest_wv_loop.gif (535×440)

Harvey below looks like a dark knight.
Moving West slowly.

swir_lalo-animated.gif (720×480)

As for Harvey and his remnants..
As Harvey Spins West...
The NHC has raised it's odds of reforming.
Currently up to 70%
RED Alert

jsl_lalo-animated.gif (720×480)

Another way of looking at it is below.
The odds are in it's favor.
92L has odds too.
Lower odds but ... watching.

And why wouldn't you?
92L could form and be Irma.
Or at the very least #PTCTEN
(long day are we on ten yet?)
(I had some wine ..wink wink)
Models show Florida...
Twice actually.
Moves over Florida.
Moves back into the Atlantic?
Maybe 92L had some wine..
...the models definitely are drunk!

Told you before..
Can't make this stuff up.

rgb_lalo-animated.gif (720×480)

Over the very warm waters of the Bahamas..
..the Gulfstream.
Irma could start dancing.

Great dress... I want it.
Looks very like Evita there.
See scene from Evita below!
Take my word on it.
I studied acting when young.
Musical comedy.
Set, dance, make up..
... very Evita-ish

I know patterns.
I know theater.
I know weather.

So I had a really wonderful day today going to the Farmers Market In Raleigh (don't laugh) which is like a fair but without the noise and everyone is friendly tasting fresh figs from the Outer Banks, peaches from the sandhills, German and Cherokee Tomatoes from Johnston County and Scuppernong grapes in season finally. And when you see figs and scuppernong grapes around these parts you know summer is almost over. Bought Dixie Lee Shelled Peas to cook with rice and greens later this week.

Then we went to Trader Joes to get some Empire Kosher Chicken. Really. Trader Joes is having a 50th Birthday Party in their stores. Lots of food to sample and by the way wine is involved, you might want to check it out. I remember Trader Joes from Los Angeles when I lived there in the 80s...who knew they'd be what they are today. Yes, give me coffee and wine and I'm a happy camper, especially after being on a sugar rush from the peaches, watermelon and scuppernong grape tastings before Trader Joes.

Again red is the theme of the day.
Harvey is red again.
Happy Birthday Trader Joe's
50 years!

As for Irma...she is yet to be born.
Needs to form...
Keep watching.

In that vein who knows what will be with 92L that the NHC is still following across the Atlantic despite having polar vortex streamers shot at it with blocking by King Tutt. I mean it's still plugging WNW towards Florida or the Carolinas.. or both.

As for me I bought me an Eclipse viewing device. No one sent me a pair of glasses :( And as someone round here wants me to wear hats more often. I'm modeling the latest in Eclipse Fashion for y'all. Supposedly you take it off your head, put it above your head (not with your head blocking it) and then put paper down or just look at the pavement and the shadows will show you the sun as bites are taken out of it by the moon's shadow; like the bites of peaches and watermelon being served at the Farmers Market. Oh and according to the big board that shows temperature there it said it was 100 degrees but pretty sure the NWS won't agree. As it's the State Farmer's Market I think they should get a vote.

I'll let you know how this science experiment comes out tomorrow...

If you are going to be in Raleigh
And it's not the dead of Winter.
Go to the Farmer's Market.
2 Incredible restaurants.
Free samplings.
Friendly talk.

Now on to the Tropics.
Below is a REAL Image of Harvey.

Wow, you can't make this stuff up. It's the stuff great plays and award winning movies are made of in Hollywood except this is Hurricane Season and of late it's prone to great come backs and has been named storms. You know Sean Connery was hot, then he wasn't and then he did a comeback like Frank Sinatra when he was older. Happens. I don't want to give away the ending here just yet so I'll just mention that the storm with many names (now Ex Harvey) is still out there, traveling west bound and ignoring it's reviews. Think of it as disconnected from social media; it doesn't watch Morning Joe or The Five and pays no attention to what they say about him at the NHC. It just keeps on doing it's thing. He's sort of like a great writer who holes himself away from the world to write a masterpiece. Tennessee Williams had a small studio on his property and no one was allowed to disturb him until he came out. He woke up every morning, went for a swim, came back and wrote. I became friends with the woman who took care of his sister who lived with him; I can confirm that legend as she was not allowed to disturb him when he was writing.

Great things come from isolation sometimes.

I'm not sure how William Shakespeare got so much done back in those Elizabethan Days where it took forever to get dressed before leaving the house but perhaps he had a writing getaway like Tennessee Williams did. In fact I'm really thinking we should take a DNA Ancestry test today from some rain in Harvey to see if he could be distantly related to Old Will as I'm seeing a strong resemblance myself.

And soon, if Harvey survives the hate campaign against him from the NHC, he will go off and fight the wind shear just as the Man of La Mancha fought with the windmills. He needs to be a bit more macho I think and bulk it up a bit more for them to give him back his name officially. Currently he is trying to get some sort of official status from the NHC, but will they give it to him? Oh such drama... Harvey really needs a good soundtrack.

The shear shown below is his windmill.
There is a sweet spot there if he can get there.

I'm a little concerned what the NHC is up to..
They write a script every day that few read.
Sort of like a soap opera has a bible.
When one character dies...
...soon a new one comes to town.

???

In their 8 AM Discussion.
Talking about DEAD HARVEY.
They introduce a new wave they "found"

Note discussion below highlighted.

I suppose they have Xray vision.

Or maybe this is a magic trick?

I'm not sure what they are talking about.
The new convection is from the old Harvey.
Are they trying to imply otherwise?
I see some showers near Trinidad...
Their map is equally confusing.

Close up of the map above.
Looks like Harvey to me.
I recognize the mustache...

Officially Ex Harvey has a 60% chance of forming.
50% in the 2 day even.

Today's 5 day looks as if the CMC went on a diet. Same 3 systems they have been showing however not as hearty as the Canadian Model has been showing them on every model run. Maybe they meant East of Florida? I'm sure with time the plot will thicken and we will know what they are implying in their Tropical Discussion. Link is shown below so you know I didn't make this up.

Satellite image below of the 3 above.

It is worth noting the GFS doesn't see these three systems, but does eject a Low off of Florida around the 25th and it slides NE along the SE Coastline. Perhaps 92L gets in the GOM after crossing Florida and then swinging back? It's a possible plot line, not sure if that will work or a totally new character shows up but we aren't talking hurricane so really who cares? It's a model.

On the 25th the EURO has Harvey in BOC.
And on the 27th a similar SE Low forms

Just go to www.tropicaltidbits.com for the model runs.. it's easiest. Interactive game, new updated version every twelve hours or so.. Or just go to www.spaghettimodels.com and do the Cliff Notes version. It's 2017.. "it's all good!!"  "No worries" (this is not a time that will produce great #classic lit..it seems)

Currently Harvey is an entity.
Moving W then WNW.
Maybe makes it to BOC.

As for 92L...
Moving towards Florida.
In some form..
Rain?
TD?
Wave?
Does it get a name?
See the image below.

The next name is Irma.

The tweet above is a good one.
Good App.

What is in an eclipse I ask?
I ponder...
I wonder..

If you believe bad things come from an eclipse then you might want to blame that on Mark Twain who may have started a lot of the legends in his story. Yes there is a link.

Hmnn . . .

Mark Twain was interestingly born when Halley's Comet appeared and died when it reappeared. Something to think on if the models are giving you a headache and you are tired of the nonstop hyped coverage of the Great American Eclipse or as they are calling it here in Carolina the Great Carolina Eclipse ;) I mean even Nick Saban is talking about the eclipse and the coverage by the TWC. See he's a weather nerd it seems. See Mark Twain below, another distant relative of Tropical Storm Harvey it seems if pictures don't lie...

As for the official forecast for tomorrow.
The eclipse.

Just remember while we all go crazy about the eclipse and the NHC debates whether to upgrade Harvey or not .. the weather previously associated with Harvey is moving West. 92L is moving WNW towards South Florida and may cross Florida or may curve up along the coast. 93L is out there somewhere... trying to get attention and a supporting role of any kind in this tropical drama. If you believe they put a man on the moon..........you'd think they could get a better group of models to help with this forecasting thing... Just my thoughts. Have a wonderful Sunday. I'll update as new plot twists pops up suddenly or are advertised on the ongoing coverage of the Great Eclipse.

Oh and if Charleston doesn't get to see the eclipse and you drove in traffic there just to see it, relax and have some good eats. One of the best parts of the South to eat your way through as well as awesome scenery so all will not be lost. I'll be in Raleigh with my handy hand grater seeing what I can see without totality.

Ps... Have a wonderful weekend and whatever you do tomorrow...do not look directly at the sun, really. They showed a great idea on TWC earlier... you can take a grater and position it in front of you with the sun above it and it will show you lots of little eclipses images all day. If you only have a food processor you may be screwed on that one :(  well unless you still have the grater attachment and don't only have the S blade. A lesson to the NHC...never discard things you may later need.
