Hurricane Harbor

Quiet This Week. Later in July Not So Quiet. So Use This Time Wisely to Prepare Plans You Can Put Into Action Fast. Hot Now Means the Gulf of Mexico Be Heating UP. Last Weekend in July Looks Ripe For Tropical Possibilities.

The NHC says nothing will form in the next 5 days. You can pretty much take that to the bank when you see it; well unless someone robs them while they are carrying their deposit to the bank and something odd pops up. 2020 has been that kind of odd year with mininal storms popping up out of nowhere, close in after predictions of nothing happening so relax, finish your hurricane preparation plans and keep one eye partially on updated weather. "That just happened" has been kind of this year's trademark. I mean I'm not a NE Patriot lover, it is true I love the Red Sox but that's different, but now Cam Newton is in NE and I'll admit I"ll be watching. Expect the unexpected in 2020, but prepare for the expected train of hurricanes marching under a strong Bermuda High trying hard not to be Fish Storms that recurve out to sea.

When watching the models and tropics in July you don't look at some blob and expect it to develop, you watch the trends of the Highs and the Lows and where the moisture goes. You are watching trends developing and while those trends are developing and moving into place the tropics, the real tropics, are heating up and slowly cooking while you're not looking.  People who know, they know that. Dabuh knows that's why I put his Tweet up there to illustrate the way to watch the Tropics when it's slow in July.

I like to use Mike's grid of images to illustrate thoughts.
I can use one of my thousands of links and sites but...
...Mike knows it's a Visual world these days.
Less words, more pictures.
Hey Mike has Tropical Masks.
Show him some love...
Give them something to talk about at Publix...

Except for the wild storms out West... It's so dry and hot.
Frontal Boundaries keep pushing down.
The Deep South is hot, hot, hot.
And the Gulf of Mexico and Carib are not.
Heating up to near ready to boil temperature.
That's what those 4 images show.
If one picture paints a thousand words.
The pictures above should tell you what's down the road.

The image below shows Pop Ups.
Small chance along the SE coast again.
(make it go away fast...)
Short term vigorous wave for a few days.

And lastly this one says a lot.
But it's hidden in the words HOT HOT HOT.
Pepperminte Candy red strips over the South.
"Mean temperatures in the upper third of historical range"
That's HOT.
Water temps close in along the GOM will be bubbly.
Green and White off of Africa means high rainfall.

So why is this important?
Because when you have a huge high pressure ridge to the North.
And have very warm tropical water trapped below.
Over time you watch for something to form to the South.
In this case "the South" means "the Gulf of Mexico"
And as for those waves.... they just keep coming.
Under DaBuh's big building Bermuda High.

Early July turns into "Almost August"
I'm expecting something about July 25th.
Not a pop up but a real storm.
Around July 24th and 25th things change.
Around that last weekend in July trouble.
Tropical Trouble.

I doubt we get through July without another storm.
Maybe a POP UP close in somewhere before.
Say July 19th give or take a day or two.
But this week looks good to go.
So go shopping or order online.
Make plans.
Be ready to put them into action.

Have a wonderful Monday.
Let's hope only good news pops up today!
