Updated! Invest 98L Becomes Tropical Storm Fay. Also a Look Around the Tropics, What Else is There to Watch.

Good to follow on Twitter.
And an excellent App to use.

Fay bound for Vermont.
After visiting Atlantic City.
New York City.
Takes a trip to the country.
NHC has it going to Canada.
Avoids Cape Cod.
How uniquely 2020.

Bet Quebec didn't see that coming.

Later today I'll put up the models.
They haven't changed much.
Though Invest 98L is changing in subtle ways.
So check back later for any updates.

Our sheared system shown below.
Center to the left.
Storms to the right.
Do they hook up or....
...does a new center form?
Recon going into today so lots of data coming.

Am I the only one that sees a face there.
Over land... relax your eyes.
Remember those 3D image games?

Bobbi's Thursday's thoughts.

Remember when you were in high school and had a crush on a boy or a girl on the other side of the room.  You were both studying the same subject but you kept peeking over at him or her and wondering what he or she was like and you barely ever had a chance to interact unless you bumped into each other? Okay, sneaky kids would set themselves up just behind you a row or two over so they could watch you while the teacher was talking but you didn't realize you were putting on a show. Somehow watching this system with a weak low level spin in one area and the convection hanging out in another area. So if 98L is sneaky it will find a way to hook up the convection with the spin at the NHC track map. NRL is all set up with it's track map.

Here's the whole classroom.

Tropical Senior High.

So let's break it down in parts.
The spin near the NHC X is below.

The class clown trying to get attention is here.

It' steals your attention always.

This is the problem with 98L
X is supposed to mark the site.
And there is a small spin/center there.
But the weather is over to the right.

So I want to talk today about two things and really one larger thing and that is not 98L. Watching shear maps is a heartbreaker. It really shuts down the beautiful waves from forming and that's a normal dance this time of year, yet later in the year the shear in the Caribbean is less and the tropical waves more.

Shear is low in that region.
The Bermuda Triangle has a Silly Grin.
On the Shear maps.
Green is go.
Red is no.

1. Watch the moisture that is South of 98L in the old Bermuda Triangle.  That's one of the few places where shear does not prohibit tropical development. Often you will see weak systems this time of year grab onto one of those wet, moist plumes of moisture and something begins to develop. Not expecting anything but it's fun to watch and the satlellite images really compellyou to look down there and wonder what could happen.

Nice pocket of moisture down there.

Convection.
Gyre type thing trapping moisture or ?

Fun to watch.
Got nothing better to do today.
Except 98L drama.
EPAC has a system.
Not paying my attention but it's there.

And for Extra Credit...
This is such a beautiful site.
Comes and goes down below.
Atlantic not the Pacific..

Thanks for reading along today.
As always prepare for the Hurricane Season.
Don't confuse PreSeason with Prime Time.

I'll update in real time depending on the NHC
And what the NHC decides to do.
