Fay is the Storm of the Day. Atlantic City Into NYC ...Warnings Up for High Winds, Flooding and Tropical Trouble That Took A Mid Atlatnic Trip and Will Keep Going Into Canada

Fay ...the only game in town today.

My concern on this map was discussed below.
The yellow area is the wind field.
Keep that in mind when looking at the cone.
The yellow area moves in tandem with the center.
Also remember tornadoes are always possible...
..in bands of weather from Tropical Storms.

This a good feature for a storm like Fay.
It gets maligned and ignored.
But not by me.
People want to know when....
Timing is everything.
As this is impacting a large metropolitan area.
I think this is a better map than the Cone.

A few days ago I wrote a blog talking on the different models and the one cosntant with all the models, even when the timing was wrong was that Atlantic City was going to get slammed and they are getting slammed this morning. It's a good day to lay back and watch TWC or glance over at it while you are working as the visuals today will be incredible as the many beaches along the Jersey Shore will provide both a backdrop and perspective.  Atlantic City is under a Flash Flood Warning as are other areas.

A concern we have any time when a storm of any measure gets up into this region is how even a short term period of gusty winds and heavy rain can cause large hardwood trees to come crashing down and flooding especially out on country roads where elevation in hilly areas can create a fast flooding situation. So pay close attention to your Weather Apps and keep your notificaitons on so that the sound can warn you if you are in an area in potential trouble.

And this area will change in real time.
So please pay attention to the weather.

My only real concern is that the cone is confusing.
It tracks the center.
This product from the NHC shows you wind field.
Note this storm is lopsided.
It has a lot of weather on it's right side.
As the cone moves North...
...weather moves North with it outisde of the Cone.
That's where NWS comes in so never assume.
Always stay tuned in on local weather.

Discussion below shows this as they changed warnings.
They extended the TS warning to Delaware Bay.
Weather is fluid. Changes happen.

Always good to read the Discussion From NHC.

Bottom line intensity wise is below.

Fay is really more a subtropical storm.
Quasi Mix but let's go with the TS label.
It is what it is and it's going to be a stormy mess.

Not going to discuss much else today.
It's Fay's day to get attention.
On Sunday I'll look ahead towards the new week.

Looking around the world.
There's a storm in the EPAC
Usually you can count 7 to 10 days.
And the Atlatnic gets busy.
But that's not a hard rule.

The North Atlantic has a triple play.
South America always beautiful.

This site is really an awesome site that can be used in mutliple ways. To me it's better than any App that promises to relax you as you can get totally absorped into and provide a great vehicle to relax you and distract you when the news cycle is too heavy.

That's all folks.
Have a good weekend.
Be safe, be smart and have fun.

Ps. In truth I've been concerned about this area and Hurricanes this year. But I'm worried on later in the season with a real Hurricane having an impact/landfall along the coast in Northern Latitudes unused to frequent hurricanes. Yes, Irene happened and Sandy happened and the Long Island 1938 hurricane happened but getnerally usless a Hurricane Donna makes it's way North or a Hazel type Hurricane there is a sense that they are pretty safe from a catastrophe. The pattern this year favors hurticanes that make it up along the coast and this may only be a brief memory if it is eclipsed by a landfall later this season so keep that in mind.

For now... it's gonna be a wild, tropical night from the Boardwalk into Philly and up into the NYC area as Fay does her thing. Hope the cranes are locked down in NYC and people take it seriously and lay low until Miss Fay is gone away.
