IMELDA the Big Story Today. I-10 CLOSED in Texas. Swift Water Rescues. More Than Just the Bayous Flooding. More Rain On the Way. Jerry Going Cane. Humberto Going Away. Carib Blob a Player in Different Ways.
A real mess in Texas from Imelda.
This radar hasn’t changed much since I looked at it 6.5 hours ago!! If anything more people are getting flooding as it builds south and west. #Imelda pic.twitter.com/5o0vjJ0gIW— Jim Cantore (@JimCantore) September 19, 2019
I figure he's the best go to person.
Jim Cantore knows.
Mark Sudduth is there...
...he's been live on air on TWC
He was in Bolivar smashed by Hurricane Ike.
They build differently now.
High up off the ground.
Some serious elevation going on with the new construction in the wake of hurricane Ike along the bolivar peninsula in Texas. pic.twitter.com/9Y53plfmPt— Mark Sudduth (@hurricanetrack) September 18, 2019
He has moved his location from there...
....and is hunkering down as the roads are closed.
He said on air something to the effect of...
If people who chase storms for a living...
...aren't driving their cars around.
You shouldn't either.
Parts of I-10 are closed.
Beaumont, that I mentioned the other day, flooded.
And there are high water rescues going on now.
This is a serious weather situation.
It's from tropical rain coming in off of the GOM.
Yes it rains in Texas.
But it would not be like this...
...had Imelda pulled together in the GOM
...and refuses to go.
This is a current picture of the Tropics.
Note most of Imelda's rains are over the GOM still.
Until that rain moves inland and on.
This will continue on.
One of the problems with the NHC graphics is...
....it doesn't tell the real story.
And anyone today can go to satellite imagery.
If they want to...
So yes Imelda is "inland"
But most of IMELDA is over water.
Funneling that water in the same way..
...Harvey did.
Stick with this video til the end.
Or fast forward to the end.
Note water pouring in from the ceiling of...
..a Holiday Inn.
This is more than just Bayous flooding
Why I prefer the other map you have to click on.
Or rather know to look for...
NHC tracks the center.
Then hands off the weather to other sources.
This is what you find on that page.
Oh and a really cool old style weather map.
I love those...
This is our MIMIC Image.
Jerry is going Hurricane.
NHC said so and it will.
The large orange swath ahead of him is the Blob.
Note the fuel lines connected from Humberto to it.
Humberto is gone pretty much...
...but gave a real wallop to Bermuda.
Bermuda got I believe more than they expected.
And note the long orange supply line to X Imelda.
It's kind of like a divorce....
...you file for a divorce but they are your partner a long while.
Until it's final and then they are still around.
Note both Imelda and Humberto are getting "gas"
...from the Caribbean Blob.
One reason the Blob is a player.
Could some part of it form later?
Maybe.
In theory Jerry gets sacrificed to Humberto.
Humberto sucks it up and away.
I'm a bit worried on that suddenly.
As it seems to be doing that with the Carib Blob.
And there's ample moisture there.
But I've been told it's fluid dynamics.
I have some questions on that to ask someone..
...before accepting that as a done deal.
Tail of #Humberto will likely grab #Jerry on the way out to sea. #FluidDynamics pic.twitter.com/HZesRDz010— Michael Watkins (@watkinstrack) September 19, 2019
So this is the news from Texas.
Hope you get a better commercial than me.
I don't pay for YouTube.
Should I? Maybe.
I'll update later today.
This is a real life weather emergency in Texas.
And I knew it would happen.
It's not about how big Imelda was...
...or how long it existed.
It might have existed longer had the NHC did things differently.
The graphic above is from Cranky's blog.
But understand I wrote on it evolving on Friday.
So the set up was there but...
..they were not following it.
Until the horse was out of the gate.
That huge dark ghost cane ...
..that was my name for it.
Began to fill up with moisture.
Moisture from Humberto actually.
Very noticeable on WV loop and Mimic
I suppose though the NHC is the bottom line...
...that's why people such as you follow me.
And Cranky and www.spaghettimodels.com
Dubuh and Jim Cantore on Twitter.
And the list goes on.
And so does the Hurricane Season.
I'll update the blog this evening.
More on the blob.
Details on Jerry and X Imelda.
And what may happen down the line.
Besos BobbiStorm
@bobbistorm on Twitter and Instagram
Best source for local news there..
... if you want to follow Imelda..
And you don't have TWC
This is why we NEED TWC
For good or bad at the end of the day.
They deliver when weather is happening.
I'll update around 4 PM.
Info on models, waves, storms and what's next.
