Update 11 PM - HURRICANE DEBBY....................

Close up of landfall on Interactive Map

Not much to say other than Debby always confounds in some way with odd blobs that pop up and surge with energy and yet as a whole she is strengthening, developing into quite a Hurricane that will make landfall in the Big Bend somewhere near St. Marks or to the East of there in the various Nature Reserves hopefully. A pain in the butt to chase ...but best case scenario for cities along the Gulf of Mexico. Tornado Warnings abound, fast spin ups and than whoosh gone, then another one spins up. This part of Florida is always prone to spin up tornadoes with this approach to landfall.

Debby's Center is the blob to the left.
There's an eye involved.
Ignoring the obvious weirdness and moving on here.

One of the bigger problems here is......
...it's raining now way out ahead of Debby.
The ground will be saturated by landfall.
That brings trees down....
Boom!
It's not pretty when you hear the sound of a tree ...
...going down fast.
More like a THUD.
This part of Florida is heavily populated with trees.
Hardwood trees.
It's not Miami....

On the right messy blobby.
On the left, going Hurricane.

Stay tuned.
Follow Advice.
Plan for Flooding....
... Get stocked up.

Thanks
Keep reading from earlier today.

WV shows the dry air..the High

I'll update this evening.
Eyewall trying to form.

Stay tuned........

9:30 AM

A look at Earthnull shows us it's symmetry.

Yes, I think she will get an eye before landfall!
Very possible.
Why is she so right side loaded, weather wise?

The Water Vapor on the right.....
...shows how dry it is to the left of Debby.
Inhibiting it from having a rounder shape.
But her winds are there so let's not get picky..

See the bend in golden yellow against the black.
Ruddy Red, Golden Yellow/Orange DRY AIR.
The Cone lines up with that High.
And, Debby is squished here.
A High to the NW of her...
..another High to the Right.

Dangers in the track.
Obviously the typical Big Bend dangers.
Flooding, hurricane force winds.
Some storm surge.

Spaghetti Models from Spaghetti Models online aka Mike's Weather Page. Why are we getting dropped pasta suddenly? Everything depends on Debby's forward speed at the moment. Timing is everything. Moving slow she feels the High to her North differently than she would moving faster. And, so where exactly does she stall or loop? Will she loop for sure or will she crawl along the beautiful Carolina coast. Crawl is a term we use in the Carolinas, go figure and that is what Debby may do and if she does that she could bring historic rainfall totals to some parts of South Carolina from Savannah (just across the border in Georgia) up through Charleston, Myrtle Beach and towards Wilmington, NC.

When the models go wonky we just wait it out. Again it's all in the timing. Like Life. I moved to Raleigh from North Miami Beach aka NMB and now my favorite NMB is North Myrtle Beach ;) Crawling is a thing there on the road or on the beach. Video down below. But, as always my real favorite beach to wander on and play in the tidal pools and stare out in ever direction is Pawley's Island.

Regarding Charleston, a city prone to flooding....
...they are watching Debby carefully.
I also love Charleston but more into Savannah.
Every Southern girl has her preference.
It's a close call tho...

One state at a time.
What state is your mind in today?
Depends where you live.
My state of mind is everywhere.
Smiling.
Actually have the window open a bit.
This is a weather week for me.
And, not talking temperatures near 100 degrees.

I gotta tell you, this is a Sunday Morning Tropical Weather Day in my world. At some point I'll go out shopping for the week...taking in mind we should have prolonged weather from Debby here... but for now, sitting here cross legged as I do typing, looping and listening to Bryan Norcross talking, explaining on my phone on Fox Weather App while TWC is on mute as I type this ...because FOMO....and reading comments on X that's always one of the best sources of immediate news.

Mike Seidel on Fox Weather! Love it!!

About as Old School Bobbi as it gets, listening to Byran Norcross whose voice I know by heart and his every inflection in his voice when he's debeating what the most important fact is to relay and explain ...calmly, factually and easy to understand if you know very little about meteorology or if you have made meteorology your life long hobby. All meteorology students studying forecast meteorology should be told to listen to how he explains the many details, dangers and destructive possibilities " magnificient oak trees with big long limbs that knock out the power" and while talking on Florida and the immediacy of Debby's approach he doesn't let you forget that as we say in Old Florida "up the road" there will be more impacts of a different kind.

Debby is beautiful and as I said previously on X there is great symmetry in her appearance on Earthnull and that means that despite the dry air on her left side she will take advantage of the warm waters and the very curve of the Big Bend to intensify as she makes landfall.

I'll update later, especially if something happens that's newsworthy and again I need to make a shopping list for this week. I need a To Do List (I live to make To Do Lists) and breakfast at some point.

If you are in the track of Debby, take her seriously even though she has an odd appearance on radar. And, in this case all her weather is closest to populated cities to her East as she moves towards landfall near the Big Bend. Ever wonder why that Big Bend is shaped the way it is ... so many storms, hurricanes slamming into it over time. Lots on my mind today. Stay tuned... Debby is on the map and Ernesto may be forming in the near future and trek it's way through the Caribbean, low down the way earlier storms have done though intensity, shape and end game is too far away to be certain.

Sweet Tropical Dreams...........in my case Fall dreams..... Winter Dreams. Dreams on Dreams but really looking forward to the cooler temperatures Debby will deliver if the forecast plays out as planned. And, then we have Ernesto to discuss.... but the E storm has to wait for it's time in the sun as the D storm is on the board!
