Quiet Hot Days in July Can Turn Fast into Hot Times in the Tropics ... Especially Close In. So Stay Tune, Shop, Plan and Remember To Enjoy the Quiet. Won't Last Long.. This Year Has Been on Warp Speed Drive.. Whoosh!!
I'm showing a "close in" satellite loop.
Because Home Grown is a possibility.
In July we don't expect much from waves.
Oh, yes...we watch them and wave back.
But they generally fade away.
There's a lot of moisture out there.
As each new wave humidifies the atmopshere....
...as SAL keeps coming.
They do this eternal dance.
Eventually Climo wins and waves wave back.
And so I ask you again.
Do you have a list?
Did you have plans?
Did you stock up on basics?
Where would you evactuate to?
Do your relatives really want you...
...if you are from Miami or Houston?
Just being honest here...
Be sure. Plan now.
Did a late night shopping trip. Ppl in Raleigh generally go to sleep early. Oh look still out of certain things very clean but manager said certain items hard to keep in stock but they are trying. Add a #hurricane into this u get #chaos. Prepare now #hurricanestrong pic.twitter.com/17RU6JE6gJ— BobbiStorm (@BobbiStorm) July 17, 2020
There is a window of opporunity ...
...for Home Grown Trouble.
The Pop Up Suddenly Kind.
Small stuff, short lived.
But possible.
Models are hinting at trouble.
Climo and this year's pattern does too.
So just because SAL shut down the Atlantic.
And Kelvin Waves are waving.
Close in trouble could happen.
Please be prepared.
Nothing expected in 5 days.
Goes to Yellow Circles fast.
The tropics are good at producting ....
..home grown trouble in July.
Especially busy seasons.
So keep watching.
Stay cool!
For years I had this poster in my living room or bedroom or somewhere up near the computer as a constant reminder that the worst can really happen and Category 5 Hurricanes do move straight towards landfall in South Florida. Years of growing up with milder varieties and vague memories of Betsy and Cleo made us feel that hurricanes always go somewhere else. Hurricane Betsy was 1965 and Andrew was 1992 and in between nothing too mean made landfall. Kids grew up in Miami and went off to UF and got jobs in Raleigh and never went thorugh a Miami Hurricane. It's true. Well, I was there, back from LA in time to deal with Andrew in our old, beautiful Roaring 20s big house built in 1926 that had made it through the Great Miami Hurricane about 4 blocks from the Ocean or 3 from Indian Creek depending on how you figure things. I could hear the sound of the surf caught in the wind as it howled like only a hurricane could as strong gusts buffeted the strong awesome house.
Enjoy these quiet days in July. Try to find ways to stay insane and keep your brain busy during the trials of 2020. Stay safe, take them seriously but don't be too serious ... find times to be silly and smile and breathe. Take showers. Sip cool drinks. Eat Ice Cream. Find some watemelon but never forget...
sometimes your worst case scenario can come true. So enjoy today and plan for tomorrow.
Article below worth reading.
Have a great weekend. Go try and chase Neowise. I tried last night, but apparently as dead as North Raleigh can be at 10:30 PM it's much brighter than you think it is.... I did find the Big Dipper, but not the comet. Maybe later this weekend. Or I just keep enjoying the images online.
Sweet Tropical Dreams and have a great weekend.
