Quiet In the Tropics Officially But Check Out That Tropical Wave as a Long Term Possibility. And While Not Much to See Here.. NEOWISE in the SKY Putting On a Show.

Not showing the infamous NHC graphics because as of Noon they have nothing to say other than there is nothing expected to form over the next 5 days. They do update that frequently if and when things change so as always stay on top of the tropics in a year when we are searching for the G named storm in Mid July. Hasn't 2020 been interesting? And we have a comet in the sky... more on that later.

Some video at the top.

Speaking of interesting, the tropics have an interesting look. Yes, it is kind of dead out there today as far as nothing specific but a strong Tropical Wave left Africa with a nice little spin and some sites are giving it high chances of possibly developing for a few days before getting blasted by shear near the entrance to the Caribbean. As always waves need to be watched because often they split as they near the Islands and the Southern part continues into the Caribbean and the Northern extension curves up towards the Virgin Islands, PR and the Bahamas so that's what goes on in July and we are now at Mid July and our climatology index is more like early August in ways so that needs to be taken into consideration. Sayings "June too soon, July too early" are based on the average of all seasons yet every season is different especially this one where Fay came and went after a day or so.

So utilize this time wisely and make a Hurricane Plan. Are you going to evacuate and drive home to your parents or an old friend who lives inland far outside the Cone? Or are you going to hunker down in a safe place because you live in an area that doesn't flood and you just need supplies? Are you going to wait in a Pandemic to wait in line for who knows how long to get inside to the store to see who knows what is left? I'll tell you what is left .... Canned Oysters, the tuna, salmon and even the little herrings in the can will be gone before you get there. Use this time wisely. Again, let me remind you the Dollar Store is your friend if you are on a tight budget. If you are looking for flights out of town and are willing to fly, airfare is still on the cheap side so that's good.

Just because it's quiet today doensn't mean it will be at the end of July and early August. This is a season most experts have predicted will last deep into October so it's not all over because it's quiet today.

Lastly, when I made a statement that things will pick up around July 24/25th give or take a few days it is not a prediction nor a forecast but it is a statement based on the current conditions in the Tropical Atlantic and based on parameters having to do with Climatology. You can chase  moisture at the end of a front and see if it turns into a tropical something and while that's possible it's a long shot but never bet against Climatology and current meteorological synoptics.

Have a blessed, wonderful, beautiful day free from germs and filled with only good memories.

Ps Since Comet Neowise is lighting up the sky magically I'm going to post some videos below to enjoy. I haven't chased it in the early morning hours but as it becomes a Sunset Comet I will try to find a spot in this area where the horizon isn't hard to see because of our beautiful Pine Trees to catch a glimpse of it.

A good link among the many with information on how and when and where to search the skies for the comet. If you go out somwhere that you can see the horizon on a day that is clear you won't have to search hard. https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/07/14/sky-show-perfect-viewing-weather-for-comet-neowise-this-week

One with some music and well an incredible picture of a stellar visitor.
