Updated: Invest 90L By the Texas Coast. 3 Areas to Watch in the Tropics. Invest 99L Introduced (Old African Tropical Wave) Area Approaching Florida Going into the GOM AND Another Area Approaching Texas Sooner.
Introducing Invest 90L
Convection has been strong all afternoon.
Shear is lighter in that spot.
Water temperatures are warm.
Models below.
Shear tendencies ...
in that white band with the 5 it's helpful.
Short window of opportunity.
And just wanted to remind you it is still 20%
Actually they both are 20%
Truly the year of 2020 it seems......
My thoughts in the short video below.
Also watch the wave near Florida.
Something might be going on there.
But Texas is more an in your face situation.
Close in, homegrown....
Hey there, nice to meet ya!
Keep reading if you have not already.
Thanks!

Introducing Invest 99L
Lots to talk on this morning.
Nothing really developed.
But lots of possibilities.
3 Areas. Hard to find them here.
Lots of areas but not so much convection now.
These are potential areas not storms.
1 is Cuban Bahamas Wave near Flroida.
2 is INVEST 99L with model support
3 is Pop Up Near Texas.
It looks as if system #1 lassos system #3.
What that really shows you is...
Where #1 most likely wants to go.
Though.... it could come in a bit higher.
if it develops.
Let's begin with our Invest 99L
Our Tropical Wave from Africa is headed West.
Then it bends WNW.
Models for Invest 99L
Remember early models changte in real time.
Next there is the closer in shystem.
Cuban/Bahamas Wave...
...headed into Florida Straits.
Amping up rain for South Florida.
No sign of a circulation there.
Just rain now....
... later may develop in the GOM.
Where the water is very very hot.
Last but not least.
And first in concern really.
As this is a POP UP CLOSE IN SYSTEM.
Remember I've been saying this could happen.
Texas system actually has a heart beat.
Go figure. Could ramp up upon arrival.
Putting this all in motion.
You can see color showing up now North of Cuba.
This will put on a show in the Florida Straits.
The water there is bathtub water.
Out in the Atlantic 99L not as much.
Water out there not so hot.
If it gets into hot water...
...we could have trouble.
And the one by Texas close in lights up.
So I woke up this morning, picked up my phone and went immediately to the NHC main page because I knew they would put up a new yellow circle in the Atlantic. But, they out did themselves by putting up two new circles. Totally logical, as the one closest to the coast near Texas is going to impact land sooner rather than later. Lots of Sooners from Oklahoma live in Texas by the way; fact of the day here lighting up the news that we are getting closer to really starting the HURRICANE SEASON as we transition from short lived storms to hurricanes to worry on. Then I checked WhatsApp to see what was up with my kids who were quiet, they will not be quiet tomorrow as they will be sending pictures of dark crazy South Florida skies as the tropical wave passes through the Florida Straits enhancing rain in the Miami area. Note, Miami this time of year doens't need much to "enhance" rain and raise it up to the "OH MY GOD TAKE A PICTURE OF THAT SKY" because it's summertime in South Florida.
So Mike has models up on www.spaghettimodels.com but note the models are for the NEW Yellow Area that has already been designated Invest 99L. I feel like they NHC is playing catch up here because they didn't put up a yellow circle yesterday for it despite some modest model support.
I will update this blog later today.
Probably this evening.
I'll discuss models and what they show us...
...as well as what we can see from satellite imagery
