TD 19 Forms! TS Sandy Official . .

What a day. We went from no storms to two storms in a matter of hours.

Sandy has been the talk of the meteorological town all day. Some models have it hitting:

a) Jamaica
b) Haiti
c) Cuba
d) Bahamas
e) Carolina
f) Del Marva Peninsula
g) NY City/Philly
h) New England
i) all of the above

It's been a nutty day with regard to the models as for the long term forecast beyond the five day. This forecast has HUGE implications as it does everything from affect a major metropolitan area to enhance a Winter Storm track infusing it with moisture in the form of rain and snow. Then again.. it can simply go out to sea.

While every meteorologist online and off was watching TD 18, the NHC decided to upgrade the other Invest to TD 19 which could become Tropical Storm Tony.

My biggest problems with most of these storms is I get gender confused. I know so many Sandys who are female and so many Tonys who are females. Good thing the last storm was Patty and not Pat or I'd be a total mess.

With regard to Sandy she is moving in line with the NHC forecast as she has now made her turn back to the North. Watches are up for Jamaica and Haiti and as this system has a lot of moisture in it IE RAIN that's important as even a minimal storm can wreak havoc on Haiti's bare mountain slides that make any small storm a massive mudslide.

With regard to the new kid on the block...the once and future Tony is out in the Central Atlantic with it's own track.

TD 19 is forecast to go out to sea, for now anyway...

It is worth noting that a few models showed two storms moving in unison earlier in the week.

Hopefully, with the new formation of TD 19 up in the Atlantic that will strengthen into Tony, that will be the icing on the cake that takes Sandy out to sea rather than becoming Irene the Remake.

And, you thought all you had to worry on was whether your candidate does well in the debate tonight vs making some awful gaffe.. Gee, hoping I got all my pronouns right here tonight and the Hes and the Shes match up with the proper storm. Can't we PLEASE go back to calling them all female names? Pretty please?

More later as the new models come in as the evening progresses.

For now I think statistically I can say that New York is safe from a landfalling Hurricane. Maybe. Not sure on Cape Cod..  (teasing, teasing)
