ISAAC NEARING KEY WEST

VISIBLE SATELLITE AND IMAGERY SUGGEST THAT THE TROPICAL CYCLONE IS
GRADUALLY BECOMING BETTER ORGANIZED. THERE ARE INDICATIONS OF
INNER CORE DEVELOPMENT WITH INCREASED CONVECTION NEAR AND OVER THE
CENTER...AND A PARTIAL EYEWALL IS IN EVIDENCE ON RADAR IMAGERY. THE
BANDING FEATURES HAVE BECOME MORE DISTINCT OVER THE NORTHERN AND
EASTERN SEMICIRCLES OF THE CIRCULATION. THE CURRENT INTENSITY
ESTIMATE IS HELD AT 55 KT PENDING OBSERVATIONS FROM AN AIR FORCE
HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT THAT SHOULD BE IN THE CENTER SHORTLY.
ISAAC CONTINUES TO EXHIBIT A WELL-DEFINED UPPER-LEVEL OUTFLOW
PATTERN...AND GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS LIKELY AS THE CYCLONE
TRAVERSES THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
THE OFFICIAL WIND SPEED FORECAST IS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS NHC
FORECAST AND IS ALSO CLOSE TO THE LATEST STATISTICAL-DYNAMICAL
GUIDANCE.

THE TRACK FORECAST BEYOND DAY 2 HAS BECOME PROBLEMATIC

The problem with Issac is the good side of Isaac...everyone has a "storm day" and no school for many inmost counties in South Florida tomorrow and no big storm surge or high winds.

There is minor damage, people are without electric and the situation will get worse in the Keys.

He is also pulling himself together and sparing Key West too much damage so far.

Keep lighting those candles at the grotto!!

NOTE the track past the two day is problematic because some very reliable, overly relied on models show a hurricane... over Nola... Mobile... stuck in a stale air pattern and drifting west towards Texas. Hopefully it is wrong.

Some good coverage by my friend Ken at the Sun Sentinel

The problem also is if he does intensify and doesn't not drift west in the Gulf he may go inland and there will be torrential rains and heavy flooding inland.
So for now.. listen to the music... enjoy a day in Miami watching the waves and riding out the waves in Key West and let's see where exactly he makes landfall.. unless he misses the Keys by a mile to the West...

Be back later tonight with a round up of damage reports, and stories on Isaac and better information as to where he will go when the next few sets of models run.
I'm in upstate NY where people seem to live with one phone company and no wifi that works well and why anyone would want to live up here is wayyyyy beyond me...
Am a Beach girl... give me a Beach... Key West, Miami, Key Largo, Hollywood...
Myrtle Beach, Wilmington... any beach...

Anyways.... I'll be back in a few hours with more information and thoughts and musings... if my kids are reading this.. especially Mr Levi Isaac ;) stay safe and thanks for the pics...
