Julia Forms Over Land Making History.. 95L Westbound. IAN SWIMMING LIKE A FISH I'm back in Florida!
This loop above shows several things.
One it shows Tropical Storm Julia hovering along the SE Coast.
I want you to look at is the weather to the NW and North of Julia.
The storms are not near the center but to the NE of the center.
However weather is moving far to the North of Julia as well.
Yesterday I got to go storm chasing..
A nice present from Mother Nature.
Left for Miami for the wedding a bit early ..
..in hopes of seeing a TD or Julia.
But before we encountered Julia in Jax..
The storms were crazy in Georgia along I95.
Bands of strong squalls and a total white out.
No video of that but you wouldn't have seen much..
..I was on the phone with daughters discussing wedding stuff.
And it was dark, not much to see in the dark as much as take it in.
Strong lights along the highway showed the rain swirling beautiful.
Seriously, sometimes you got to just stop, stare and smile.
Enjoyed
@tornadotrackers got some good video.
It was definitely Tropical Storm like...
Something surreal about lying in bed watching the waves..
..sunshine on the water and TWC on talking Julia.
#HurricaneStrong promo from NHC
NHC has had a crazy year with long running Invests...
...and Tropical Storms forming close in.
Hermine forms just North of Havana.
Pretty much in the Florida Keys.
Again this was a Cape Verde Wave.
Colin formed in a sweet top at the tip of the Yucatan
Now Julia forms over land, most of the weather along the beaches.
And remember this season started in January over Cape Verde Islands.
Alex formed while part of it was coming off of Africa...
You gotta wonder what it's going to do for a finale?
Stay tuned this season is far from over.
There have been storms that were named just off shore.
Had NHC named this just before landfall it would have been normal.
Happens. But they waited and then the center was over land.
The convection out over the Gulfstream kicking up surf and winds.
In 1971 Beth formed JUST off shore.
You see prior to the NHC naming Beth...
..Miami was swamped with tropical rain.
Crazy wind gusts, flooding.
We were in tropical weather...
Definitely Tropical Depression Strength.
Yet as the storms drifted out over the water.
Beth was named.
I remember the moment because it was a messy day.
A VERY MESSY DAY
We giggled at the thought that we had Beth over land..
..before it was named.
That EX marks the spot could just as easily have been over Miami.
It drifted up along the frontal boundary and was named Beth.
Offshore. But really it formed over land.
But for the record books it formed over water.
This year started on MLK weekend tracking Alex.
So it's been a sort of record breaking year.
Where do we go from here?
Ian is a fish and sorry Ian but you're not a pretty fish.
But you are a fish swimming out to sea.
Pretty banding.
Almost naked center.
Been a year of Stripper like Tropical Storms.
Barely there but just barely a tropical storm.
Keep watching.
95L is forecast to keep going West.
This loop shows you Ian and 95L trying to roll.
Also note the GOM has a lot of convection.. moisture.
Keep watching.
I'm going to go down to breakfast.
Maybe take a swim in the ocean..
..or the pool!!
I'm on vacation ;)
I just did Julia ;) :)
Yeah tropically silly this morning.
Tropical Storm Warnings discontinued but...
...watch out for the weather!
I'll update a little later.
We be past the gowns and discussing make up.
Wedding Storm Chasing Vacation.
Yay back in Florida
