Hurricane Paloma Plows Through Cuba

Hurricane Paloma made landfall today at Santa Cruz Del Mar as a Major Hurricane. This is so similar to a Category 4 that made landfall on the same beach back in 1932. That storm killed 2,500 as a tidal wave hit the beach ... and it is legendary in Cuba for the toll it took on the island both economically as well as loss of life. Another November storm that made Cat 4 and hit Cuba going SW to NE...

Just shows you... you never know what's happening around the corner. Who would have believed this a few weeks back? Certainly not Cubans or Floridians. That last cold front came down so far south that even Cuba felt it's first taste of winter and then suddenly when you thought it was safe to go into the water.. WHAM BANG.. Tropical Weather is in your face up close and personal!

And powerful.. so powerful that for a while today Paloma approached the Holy Grail and was a strong Category 4!

Picture perfect as I said she would be posing for pics before making landfall as a Category 3.

Waiting for the next advisory as they will give discussion and an update of intensity and model analysis. Watching the Oklahoma/Texas Game on TV while catching up to speed with the storm and politics.

Main thoughts here that I want to express is that sometimes we are too conservative in interpreting the models and we don't want to err on the side of a stronger storm that is hard to fathom even though the signs were there yesterday that Paloma would do this.. back when I said that nothing is set in stone with this storm.

The front is visible but barely, somehow it doesn't seem as strong tonight as it was supposed to be when they were predicting on Friday that we would have some weather and stronger winds on Saturday Night. So far.. it's sort of quiet. In fact, winds in my area are calm... the front is to the North and it seems to me that Paloma is moving across Cuba faster than expected yesterday and that would make it come off stronger than expected. The AVN is showing red color on the north coast of Cuba tonight already.

So.... I am wondering what the NHC will do as models differ totally (said like the Valley girl I once was lol) and what's a girl to do? What will Paloma do? If the front builds in and a high builds in it will be hard for Paloma in any form to go anywhere. If the front barrels through and carries Paloma with it she might make it half way across the Ocean. If past history of November storms verifies she could meander and try and reform... rain herself out or take some funky path.

Here's a picture of Paloma confused and thinking she is doing a Picasso..

Stay tuned.. something inside me tells me she has a few surprises left in her.

Enjoy the pics and I'll be back tomorrow when we see what is left of her after crossing Cuba and ... when we see where oh where that front is..

Nite.. BobbiAmazing

Amazing video on youtube for anyone who understands Spanish or just wants to watch the pictures..
