Emily... 11 AM... Emily moves s l o w l y WNW (maybe)

Sneaky little slow moving storm....

Let's see what Emily does today (where have you heard that before??) and see if and when the NHC blinks.

At 11 AM they have maintained the previous forecast, they have not posted any new watches but they have told people to pay attention. The furthest west that they have Emily coming towards the Florida coast is:

48H 06/1200Z 25.0N 78.5W 50 KT 60 MPH

And, they add that as a weak storm with most of it's weather on the east side, South Florida should NOT feel much. However, they also posted this comment:

"A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR...
* NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS

INTERESTS ELSEWHERE IN EAST-CENTRAL CUBA AND IN SOUTH FLORIDA SHOULD
MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF EMILY."

I can see this storm slowly moving it's way along the south side of Cuba.. over it and through it possibly, reforming in the Straits and heading towards one part of the South Florida Coast. Or... I could see it pull together (wincing here, not sure I really can see it pull together) and lift towards the scaring the beejeebees out o Miami and West Palm Beach.

My mother might be the problem here. She stands by the TV and makes with her hand to brush the storm west. She keeps saying, "go way, go way" quoting her mother who had a much deeper Southern Drawl whispering at it, "we don't need no storms around here" "keep going, keep going" "git out of here" which was fine but she turned towards me and said, "oh you WANT a storm!!" I smiled, I said, "well I do track them" and smiled adding, "I need something to write about" and she said exasperated "WELL, MAKE SOMETHING UP" and turned back to the TV and whispered at Emily, "keep going west"

May be Mamma's fault here. Make something up...haha. Well, if I was working at the Hurricane Center, I can imagine a few of them there right now would like to say, "make something up" because nothing they have said so far has proven right, pull something out of a hat.

Speaking of hats...here are a few tracks that stay in my head from storms that sat down there and gave us the heebeejeebees up in South Florida.

Inez

and

Flora

Donna and Charley come to mind too. I can't shake the feeling it wants to do Key Largo and snap back through the SW coast across South Florida... few do but some do. Hey, some ones got to at some point.

Whatever it will be, there will be miles to go before forecasters sleep from Emily.

Loop to this song, trust me it's a great experience ;)

Two other slow storms named Emily...2005 and 1993. 2005 kept going all the way to Mexico or there about...the other drew faces in the Atlantic in 93.

Anyway, enjoy.... waiting for the 11am and hitting the road, got things to do and places to see today.
