Rita Wants to Stay 22... Looking Better or Worse?
That seems to be the big question.
To some trackers she looks pretty crappy. Telling you all like it is... not like we pretend.
To other trackers ...the split look of the storm looks like a storm coming together around a center that will sooner rather than later become an eye like feature.
Things could change... you err on the side of caution and do what you have to do to protect your family, yourself and your property and follow the watches and warnings.
Miami has a tropical storm warning. Warning means they (NHC) feel it is a SURE THING that the Miami-Dade County area will have tropical storm force winds. Hey guys.. how often do you get a SURE THING?? Go with it. Prepare. Take it seriously.
Even if she looks more like one of those ink spot psychology tests ....
Maybe the storm needs a shrink?
Maybe she wants to stay at 22 and will wiggle wobble her way up and down riding under the Gulf high and hit Tampico? Who knows... need a voodoo queen to tell you and right now she's probably evacuated from New Orleans to Houston and is worrying that Rita will find her there and she'll get two hits in one year. Go figure. Check your tarot or tea leaves.
If you don't believe in tea leaves or can't find any real tea leaves and don't belive in tarot cards then LISTEN TO THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER.
So... follow warnings and watches... watch the storm and see if she indeed has banding features and the thunderstorms are wrapping around the center of the storm and don't expect just a thunderstorm.
A great site to use for lots of information is:

A lot of good info and links there. Especially the last one that is the NHC.
I see the wv loop.. I still don't buy the end game track but ... right now I only care where she is going to make landfall in Florida as that is where my responsibilities lie.. family, home.. etc..
Wrote a few posts that cover an important issue in the Miami area...
shutters.. everyone wants to own them.. no one wants to put them up
used to be all the old cottage houses of the 30s and 40s came with the shutters.. gave shade for those days before AC ... all you had to do was go out before the storm hit at the last moment and secure them in the down position. Then AC came and those shutters looked "old fashioned" so people bought fancy track ones that take forever to put up. So.. we took two steps foward and three steps back I guess.. cause now people own shutters that cost a fortune but don't want to use them.
My thoughts below.. comically and seriously which is how you should approach a storm.
Be serious... but never lose your sense of humor.

if you live in an area that has a lot of debris from Katrina piled up in front of your picture windows... board up.
if you have them... think on using them at least somewhere..
if you spent all that money.. don't be lazy.. take one room or area of the house and shutter it so that you have very safe room to stay in
if you have a home business with lots of high tech stuff there... keep them near by and think about using them
if not... find a spot, hunker down and enjoy the show
Going to go to work.. while I can.. while it is open.
More to come.. later
