Patrica Makes Landfall. Misery in Mexico. Trouble For Texas
You know it's big news when politics is not on the cover of Drudge.
One thing Drudge loves as much as politics is...
History and Weather
Hurricane Patricia is set to make history as a land falling Cat 5 Hurricane.
I use this satellite because.. I like it.
Shows the whole picture.
I like the whole picture.
See the moisture (blue) moving towards Texas...
Notice how much moisture is in it's tail.
That means a long moisture feed...train...all the way towards Great Lakes.
This is a huge weather event even if Mexico gets the brunt of the winds.
It's not about the actual projected track.
Cat 5 Hurricanes wobble.
Andrew wobbled South and spared Miami.
Andrew wobbled South and slammed into Homestead.
So hard to say which small coastal town gets the official landfall.
The wobbles of a Cat 5 Hurricane can drive a meteorologist crazy.
On the plus side, it's a very small storm.
When I say that I mean the strong Cat 5 winds.
Still whoever is in the path of those winds . . .
... death and destruction will be evident at daylight.
It will take a long time for that area to look the same again.
Think Mitch. Think Andrew.
In 36 to 48 hours we can better see what is left of Patricia..
And which part of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana ..
Mississippi River Valley, Ohio River Valley...
Time will tell who sees rain from Patricia.
We can worry on Texas all we want...
...or a low forming in the GOM.
But in reality this right now is about Mexico.
And if the NHC forecast holds true it will be a Cat 5 as it comes on shore.
Here's a weather cam from Puerto Vallarta...
http://www.puertovallarta.net/interactive/webcam/large-webcam.php
Give a look. It's not ground zero but a good cam with lots of weather.
Keep watching and say a prayer for those coastal towns.
And, then worry on the people who went up to the mountains...
Flash Floods.. Mud Slides :(
Mitch Scenario but it's not stalled out like Mitch.
Speed may be the saving grace here.
Grasping for straws to say anything positive.
You know how winds are higher on the top floor of a hotel...
...compared to down on the ground.
Wind speeds may be higher in the mountains closest to the coast.
Say a prayer.

Ps TWC is doing a good job covering the storm with cams & video.
Historic. Otherwise Drudge would be talking on elections and you know who..
