Tropical Kirk Forms ...While Hurricane Isaac Meanders in the Gulf

Oh, by the way while watching Isaac spin in the Gulf live on TV and during the Republican Convention in Tampa... Tropical Storm Kirk formed out in the far Atlantic. A third area of disturbed weather is off the Cape Verde Islands with an orange circle and a 30% chance of forming into a named storm.

As Isaac meanders, making loops in the Gulf of Mexico intensifying, Kirk is a new born storm.

This process can be seen on the MIMIC loop. It's not a tight round circle like Isaac, but noticeably spinning.

Tropical Storm Kirk will move west in the short term and then will most likely recurve out to sea.

Though not a threat it's worth mentioning and not good to ignore a Tropical Storm.

No one is ignoring Hurricane Isaac who has finally done it and pulled himself together!

The track for the RAIN... from Hurricane Isaac is as follows as I really believe that the multitudes of people upstream really need to pay attention as Isaac is more than just about "landfall" and the Weather personalities on TV covering that sexy, exciting shot on the beach... he is about rivers and streams overflowing and flooded streets...   Unless it's possible he can rain himself out over the Gulf as he spins...  this is the track for that tropical rainfall.

Storm QPF

There does seem some uncertainty in the eventual track of Isaac as there were some doors left open in the 11 PM discussion. Those will be underlined here...

SMOOTHING THROUGH THE WOBBLES DURING THE PAST FEW HOURS...THE LONGER
TERM MOTION ESTIMATE IS 310/7 KT.  ISAAC IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SLOWLY
NORTHWESTWARD DURING THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS AS A MID-LEVEL RIDGE TO
THE NORTHWEST OF THE CYCLONE SLIDES EASTWARD.  AS THE RIDGE MOVES
ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY AND INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION...THIS
SHOULD CAUSE ISAAC TO TURN NORTH-NORTHWESTWARD AND NORTHWARD IN A
COUPLE OF DAYS.  AFTER THAT TIME...THE CYCLONE IS EXPECTED TO TURN
NORTHEASTWARD AS IT ENTERS THE MID-LATITUDE WESTERLY FLOW.  THE
GLOBAL MODEL GUIDANCE HAS BEEN SHIFTING WESTWARD DURING THE PAST
COUPLE OF RUNS...AND THE NHC FORECAST HAS BEEN ADJUSTED IN THAT
DIRECTION.

There are some worries on possible flooding in New Orleans, for now we have to hope and pray that the corrections to the previous problems will protect the city. Time will tell.

You can watch online at http://www.hurricanecity.com/live/ if you want to take a break from the TWC.

ANOTHER CONCERN is that with Isaac meandering West expected to move NW soon, there is some thought that BATON ROUGE may get more of the eye of Isaac than New Orleans... the problem with that is.... New Orleans remains on the DIRTY side and not talking "dirty rice" talking rain, rain and more rain.

Here's a link to a local news channel there...
http://www.wafb.com/

That's it for now.. not much to add other than like always we are watching Isaac to see what Isaac will do. And, all the weather men in the field and all the chasers out there cannot change anything, they can simply report and record the news. It's a great drama... but remember while that drama is going on it's not a fake reality TV show... it is live, real people in danger of losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses, their children's schools. And, school by the way will be out for a good week in the New Orleans area for now... pending more damage reports.

Keep watching Isaac .... keep your prayers for people in it's path... and hope Kirk stays far away from land.
