Tropical Depression #2 Develops In the Far Atlantic... Good Morning World!
Bet you forgot we had a TD 1 didn't you? Today we have an official upgrade of the Cape Verde Tropical Wave we have been watching since it rolled off of Africa a few days ago. It is a REAL CAPE VERDE TROPICAL DEPRESSION :) About as good a pedigree as a depression can get but often when they form this far out to sea they become Fish Storms. Ironically, because it will really have to struggle El Nino conditions it might intensify slower than it might have otherwise and oddly that could help it get further west as at that longitude the slower they go the bigger winner they are down the road. Long range models do take it west and show a probable curve out to sea, but with models you have to keep watching them and not buy into the first run. Could this become Tropical Storm ANA later today or tomorrow? Very possibly but you'll have to just keep watching patiently!
Hurricane Tracking is a long term investment in an area of convection that is very often drifting along in the tropical convergence zone. You don't ask the girl to dance the moment you watch her, you study her a while, move up close for a better look, dabble at conversation and see what and who she really is and then you think on asking her to dance and then... depending on how she dances and if she has rhythm you think on taking her home or out to another club or...
You need patience ... you need a fine eye in a dark, smoky bar filled with lots of noise and distractions.
And, often it's late at night and you are a little under the influence and you don't want to be like Billy with his beer goggles on, you want to really be sure what you are looking at and...
Seems our Cape Verde Storm which is more like a long distance, online romance right now is ready to talk and ready to walk. She will be sending the NHC back love letters every six hours until further notice or until El Nino finds a way to knock her off her feet. If she has staying power she will merit a date with the hurricane hunters, but only if she has staying power.
But for now... she's out there and looking quite round and well..she looks like she has done walked into the little country western bar and has settled herself into the corner and is thinking what to do..
As for the rest of the Atlantic...there are two circles up closer in that are worth watching. The lead wave I like to call Door #1 looks good, but then again it looked great last night before almost disappearing off the map and then popping back up again this morning. Needs to be consistent to get a designation and and a trip tik to a landfall somewhere later this season. The middle wave is very interesting but running under the radar. You have to really look at it's pocket and possibilities. Not easy to notice the girl less glamorous and not dressed up real sexy and wonder what is there, however the guys at the NHC and elsewhere are watching that middle system for possible development later in the now infamous forecast period.
Keep watching... things are heating up and we are not just talking blueberries anymore ;)
Woke up this morning, turned on the TV and hit a tropical update just right and there it was... Good Morning Depression...the Earth says hello...was my first thought so posting a pretty song I used to sing to my little baby girl so long ago...
