Hurricane Ike Plowing West Thru Cuba & Miami Beach Feels His Breeze Blowing In the Wind

"The official forecast again shows less weakening over land
than indicated by the decay SHIPS model...in the event that the
center emerges over water sooner than forecast."

This was a good call because if you are following Ike on satellite imagery he seems to be headed for water again on the south side of Cuba. Following close to the UK Met chart. Looks as if he is south of forecasted points and closer to the Ukmet. Go figure on that one. Why is the question and how will this affect where he goes next. Obviously, if part of him is able to get himself back over water he will ramp up more in intensity before crossing Cuba again.. and the Isle of Pines and/or possible just head west though that scenario is hard to believe but possible.

Very windy in Miami. Very windy at the beach. Beautiful beach day this morning if you like wind, constant breeze pulling at your curls and tugging at your skirt and scaring even some of the sturdier birds huddled up on the rise above the tide line with their feathers fluttering in the breeze. Stray sandpipers darted in and out of waves searching the sand for their sunrise breakfast. A pale green ocean, filled with white capped waves crashing onto the beach leaving foam and shells scattered about. Saw a couple pick up part of a conch shell hold it up into the sun to examine it and then kiss each other deeply as if the shell held some meaning for them beyond just something the storm tossed on the shore.

Pics below. At work and about to start my day. Just adding some pics and I'll post later if time permits or conditions worsen or change drastically. The waves don't show well with my cell phone camera but you get the idea.. more to come..

By the way... news out of Cuba and Haiti is filled with sorrow and pain that these constant storms have left behind and the pain will be felt for some time. In Cuba where the government is really unable to put money into rebuilding anything that is broken will stay broken for a long while. As for Haiti..one of the poorest countries in our hemisphere, my heart goes out to them. I have many Haitian friends living in North Miami Beach where they have a large presence.
