Hurricane Ike - 9 Am Friday. South of Forecasted Track

This is a big problem for the forecast. Up until this morning the NHC has hit the forecasted points almost exactly on the dot. Once, the eye was so big you could see the whole point neatly parked inside the eye. Every 6 hours they start over with new points mind you so at 9:49 you can really get a feel for how it has done since 5AM. It's south of the forecasted point and by a lot. He's getting real close to PR and the Carib not just Florida on the image posted above.

Go to this loop:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t4/loop-wv.html

Hit Trop Forecast Point and see where the eye is.. south.

What will that do to the track.. can only imagine.

Recon will go in later.

Drove into work today down Collins Avenue, there is some real flooding going on in the right side lane going south bound in a few places. Flooding rain from Hanna who seems to be reforming more to the west or tracking on the west side of her cone.

NHC has a problem today, both systems are off track a bit and both probably for the same reason.. steering currents.

So... after having a serious talk with Levi on what we may need to do before I drove into work with Mara who discussed possibilities again, everyone in South Florida is talking Ike.. Friends from far away are sending me Ike info... Thank you for your thoughts, your love and your concern. I am concerned too.

But..I think it is possible he will track further south sooner rather than later and as every storm this season seems programmed to do get closer to Puerto Rico and Haiti than we thought yesterday at this time. That would keep Miami on the north side of a storm moving up towards the Straits. Often storms follow other storm tracks but to the east or west. This is similar to Gustav in ways but more to the east... maybe through the Straits into the Gulf, through the Keys.. South Dade NW bound or WNW bound.

Am I grasping at straws? Maybe. Possibly.

Either way am waiting for the 11 AM.

We are as I have said in the past living and dying by six hour time. Waiting for the 11, then we wait for the 5, then we wait for the 11. Sort of like a politician waiting for the morning's poll results.

Always reminds me of the song Nautical Wheelers or possibly the song Door Number 3 as we have the 3 options, under, over or through Miami. Which door will Ike choose?

Enjoy the music but remember what I said in the post before this one.. think what you would do if the worst case scenario hit or the best case, knowledge is power, a plan may save your life or your belongings.

Me.. I'm waiting for the 11 AM, living and dying on 6 hour time:

And..another great video taken IN Miami at a concert Jimmy did down here years back.

Enjoy the music. I can't change the weather but I can definitely change the music..

Coffee Break over.. going to listen to Jimmy while working and trying not to think on Ike for at least another hour..

Chow for now.. Bobbi
