New Models For Ike - Too Close For Comfort for South Florida

Ouch! Way too close for comfort....

These ummm models are a bit damning aren't they? I mean sort of like staring down the barrel of a gun, shot gun...

Yes, a lot of things can change (David Bernard JUST said that on TV so passing it along) but we are getting pretty darn close to the middle of the Cone. And, just saw Ike begin to make the western turn that the NHC has been calling for..

We are basically hoping he goes down in strength to a 3. And, hoping we will be on the weak SW side as it curves fast and misses the coast or slams into our much loved sister cities to our north. Hope for a sudden fish fry but doubt it will happen with this high. Heck, I am even worried it will go SW and slam into the Florida Keys before turning but that's an outlier so think I should worry on home first.

I want everyone to listen up carefully to what I have to say on Hanna...

Tropical Storm Watches have been posted from Savannah, Georgia all the way up to New Jersey. Like HELLO... are you all paying attention? If Hanna gets moves too much to the west she can scrape/slam and bang into the whole entire East Coast. The cost of even mild damage would be unthinkable, the clean up impossible to imagine as trees alone would need to be cleared from NC to VA to Maryland to Delaware to New Jersey including the DC area. This would be one of the biggest headline grabbers for some time except that a Cat 4 is staring down the barrel with Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach in it's sight.

Hanna may turn fast and slide by Cape Hatteras or it could slam into Wrightsville Beach, Cape Fear or even further south round Myrtle Beach but it needs to be watched. It really does. It is weak, it will strengthen a bit in the Gulf Stream and move fast but it could be one of those Coastal Cruisers that impact many a metropolitan area along the East Coast.

I will focus here mostly on Ike as it is my storm in that it is threatening my area, South Florida but I really want people to not focus on Ike that would come later after Hanna.. maybe and focus on Hanna. Hey... Ike could slam straight through Florida and curve in the Gulf... could, probably won't but it could but first things first and right now Hanna is a big problem for the East Coast..the whole East Coast possibly unless it turns hard right and swims fast out to sea.

Pray fish is on the menu!

As for me.. I am going to make fried fish for dinner. Honest...

Here are some pics below from my lunch time walk on the beach at the end of Lincoln Road. Those clouds are from Hanna, not Ike but I'm not sure I want to feel the wind there from Ike on Monday as it will be wild, been there..done that... Andrew..

For people in South Florida..take this storm seriously.... please... this is not hype or a fantasy cane but the real thing!
