Monday Morning In the Tropics!

Well, it's Monday Morning in the Tropics. The waves to the left are still there and still moving west. A cut off low is slowly moving to the left (east) across the northern states...it's moved just a bit from the Great Lakes towards Pennsylvania and eventually off shore. In the SW Carib there is a sudden flare up of convection.

And, leading the pack of west bound waves is a well organized area of investigation AKA "Invest" that threatens to become the next Tropical Depression. The circulation is there, confirmed by QuikScat (the still working but failing satellite that brought you last years problems at the NHC) ... it's alive, both the sat and the system however it lacks convection. However, convection is pulsing up just around the center.

The NHC has been good with these weak, slow forming waves being all over them waiting while they actually develop this season so I would venture to guess the "92" as it's called in the Industry after it's Invest number will intensify and develop into real, actual Depression with advisories and all.

As for the trajectory of this atmospheric meteor?

It's still coming our way...

My concerns will be addressed later this week if things play out. But, as long as you have shots of energy flying from NNW to SSW/SW down towards Florida and then moving out to sea you will have these storms feel the pull to go north and not crash into Panama. They will lift as waves do and where that battle sets up in the atmosphere will mean a near hit for some city or recurvature just in time or landfall.

For now... we will watch the wave that seems to be on and off, off and on, there and not there. Once it's convection connects with it's center it will be a keeper and we will have to deal with it one way or the other later this week. Not so far from the islands right now so expect hurricane hunters to fly out and take a peak later this week.

Oh...and find it interesting that a friend in North Carolina and my brother in Greece both told me last night that the temps had dropped to 65 degrees. Hmmnnn. Imagine it will heat up in both places again before long... but interesting in the world of climatological linkage and... on August 11th the Perseid Meteors will be playing in the skies near you...hoping you have nice skies for your nocturnal viewing!

Good loop that loads fast.. time is money isn't it?

Love ya, have a great Monday morning!

Thanks for the useful information and supply list. I actually heard about the waves and the potential threat to the east coast. I stopped by the store to pick up some dinner for tonight and I thought how busy the stores might get if those waves come closer to us here in South Florida. So I decided to pick up two 24 packs of bottled water along with a few gallons of water. I already have some things stored. So if needed, I will go later in the week for some extra batteries, diapers, etc. For now, I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
