Conditions in Miami & Watching Radar

29.65 in / 1003.9 hPa (Falling)

Ummmm that's sort of low I would think.

She also doesnt't look like she is moving that much.

IF she made landfall in Key West how is she between Key West and Big Pine? That would be east up the overseas highway...

Strong bands spiraling in too.

A kite surfer was hurt in Ft. Lauderdale when he missed the beach and slammed into a Condo across the street! Oh well, he's young, strong. He said he was fine as the medics took him to the hospital. I looked really closely at the screen.. didn't look like any of my kids. Whew...

From the pic on top you can see that Fay has pulled a lot of her moisture together which to me would seem a sign of intensification. The NHC has always maintained she could reach hurricane in Florida Bay which is like a bathtub temperature wise yet pulled back on it earlier today. I think they were right and it will.

Want to say one thing here. People in Miami and Key West that I am friends with are all taking this storm seriously but we understand it's a Tropical Storm not a Major Hurricane. It is safe to drive slowly over to the beach and find a safe place and watch the water from a safe distance. This is not a shutter your window event and it is clear that this storm is not going to rapidly intensify. Maybe it will hit Cat 1 but we are good at knowing the signs, watching the nonstop, 24/7, on going coverage on Channel 7 News and we have weather radios and cones on our phone. When you see people in Key West riding around on bikes please understand that is the main form of transportation for a lot of people there. They didn't leave the Jag in the driveway and decide to see how it feels to ride a bike, many people ONLY have bikes in Key West. It's a small island. Very Green too.. ecologically minded. All in all people have taken this storm seriously, to an extreme because we have seen time and again a storm change it's track and it's intensity and we are doing a good job all in all. As for the wind surfer... he's that age, probably doesn't have children and is in good shape and figures he will have a good story to tell. Trust me I wasn't wind surfing at the beach and stood in a sheltered area and watched until that storm began to come in fast and then we ran like hell to the car ;)

More later... keep watching, I don't think her story is over. She has a few tales still to tell.

When you hear people in Florida say "I don't want a Cat 3.. I just want a nice little Tropical Storm" this is what they mean they want.

But even so you have to be careful and not laugh it off or some band will suddenly swirl around and slam you in the face real fast with very strong winds and the rain hits like pellets against your skin and you can barely see which is why it's best to stay home. But.. my son Levi went with his friends to Iddo's Wedding in Coral Springs so ... Mazel Tov Iddo they say rain is a blessing and so hope your marriage is truly blessed!
