A Look at the Short Term in the Tropics. 2 Weeks Til Hurricane Season. Take Advantage of Memorial Day Sales and Stock Up for Hurricane Season!

Nothing going on....
...tho fronts and lows are slowly on the move.
It's still Spring.
16 days til Hurricane Season....
...16 days til Meteorological Summer.

Been a busy week in my world and there's not much to say about the state of the tropics other than Hurricane Season 2025 is coming at you faster then you think. Except for the researchers, forecasters, chasers and trackers who are salivating over every piece of data ....there isn't much to write home about other than possible clues to how the season will unfold.

In my case I'm more interested in the sooner rather than later part of the forecast as between now and later the signs and signal we watch can flip, change or do funky things. In the short term it's 16 days til the start of the hurricane season. There's talk than the MJO may show up in the EPAC and then as it moves East it gets into our part of the basin.

There's RAIN in the Carib.
Heavy tropical rain but not a system.
Just rain ....in the tropics.
But terrain and rain can be a pain.
Flooding is always an issue.

Everything is still flowing West to East.
As you can see above for May 22nd. Euro.

Euro shows something in the EPAC.
Euro for Friday May 30th!

The GFS ....being the GFS....
...shows something trying to form in the Carib.

It's common to have something to talk about as we start the Hurricane Season, but it's not a given and always it plays out in real time. One day at a time.

Just know we are within range as of tomorrow of June 1st on the long range models. At some point something will try and development.

Are you ready? Are you prepared?
Memorial Day Sales are coming up. Make a list and look around and see what you might pick up at a good price.

Sweet Tropical Dreams,
