Snow in Oklahoma, Texas moving East on I-20. Drive Safe. Today is a Blue Day. Moon over Tampa

The Southern Jet is active as the latest winter weather is zooming across the Southern States east bound along I-20. At some point it will hook North a bit, but for now it's all about the South. Yes it's an old Hurricane loop we use to watch the Gulf of Mexico, but today it shows off the Jet well without being distracted by other features further up stream.

See what I mean? When you look at this loop you see the cold, Arctic Air pressing down and other features up north. Today the big news is that winter has returned to the Deep South... specifically Texas.  It's snowing in Oklahoma City, Little Rock and bearing down on Jackson Mississippi in the form of freezing rain. Atlanta, Georgia gets it tomorrow. And, in Tampa Florida the highs won't reach the 80s tomorrow. But, being Florida they will return by the weekend. Still, it's gonna be chilly down south even in parts of Florida this week. You can thank the Southern Jet. I'm wondering how that Southern Jet will figure in a few months when tropical weather bubbles up in the Gulf of Mexico as it so often does in May and June.

But, for today I'm just sitting here enjoying incredible pictures online and watching weather loops loop their way across my screen and through my messy meteorological mind. One stunning picture that was posted on Twitter this morning is of a recent moon rise over Tampa Bay Hotel, otherwise known as the University of Tampa. Might be a moon set actually, but really does it matter? It's spectacular. Sunrise or sunset, that building is beautiful by any name.  We owe that picture to @OldBoone on Twitter posted by Paul Dellegatto of Fox 13 in ... Tampa... of course.

Here's the radar in motion. Today is a blue day. Blue fighting off the gray of winter.

I wanted to see winter weather and I'm seeing it in bits and pieces.

What will the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season bring?

Can't say.

But the old crystal weather ball says...
More winter weather on the way before this one is over...

Today it's all about Texas.........

Tomorrow the winter weather makes it's move towards the Piedmont.

Forests of Azure.
Told you.. it's a blue day...
....check back tomorrow for the color of the day ;)
