Winter Storm Hercules ... It's ALL Relative... Freezing in Miami at 63 Degrees ? Snowy in Bayswater... NFL Historic WXR Problems..
Bayswater, NY
As much as we love to look at the snow...the real story is the WIND CHILLS....
Not just the snow, because this Winter Storm is affecting a lot of snow less places..
If you are in Miami it's finally in the 60s and you are cold on your morning jog...
Charleston is a chilly 22...
Raleigh has sunny blue skies and a wind chill of 17 degrees despite my WXR app telling me it's 24 outside... it lies... lies I tell you. Out in the strong brisk wind it's 17 which is something rare for this area.
My son in Iowa is dealing with double digit below weather.
In Bayswater where my daughter Dina recently moved she is more excited about the snow drifts and the frozen puddles from the bay where at high tide it creeped up her street and then froze over. She is in Winter Storm Heaven.
That was last night... below is this morning when the sun came up...
That is the view from her deck... facing out towards what used to be the Bayswater Yacht Club once upon a time... back when it was the place to be and Enrico Caruso owned the house she is renting. How cool is that? Well, this morning pretty darn cool...
Most people who moved into a house on New Years Day and three days later had a blizzard and an astronomically high tide at the same time as the onset of the storm would be upset. Not my daughter... she was up all night running from window to window as if St. Nick was going to water skate up her street...
Only my child would post these pictures with the title "My first Bayswater blizzard #blizzard2014"
She would sit outside in thunderstorms soaking wet and I'd have to fight with her to come inside..
Meanwhile temperatures vary greatly across a wide area and differ tremendously.
TWC is getting Hercules size ratings from this huge winter storm affecting large population centers!
It's going to be a Herculean effort in many parts to shovel out the cars and sidewalks and get back to real life. Luckily we are going into a long 3 Day Weekend in many parts so there is no rush to go anywhere.
My daughter who drives to work in White Plains is not working today... because... White Plains is very WHITE today with snow. Another daughter is flying in from Sunny Miami and called me to remind me to put her Winter Coat in the car before we go pick her up at the airport cause... she wasn't wearing the Winter Coat in Miami and will need it today. My son posted a cute picture of my grandson Judah going to school with "winter" clothes on next to his friend Summer. Notice every one names cute little baby girls Summer, but no one names kids Winter.. yup, Judah is set for a cold wintry day in South Florida... cute stylish winter jacket Summer has on too I may add.. Well, they say weather is all relative so figured I'd post some relative pictures today :)
Also may I add my SIRI has such an attitude ... guess she wasn't born in Miami..
My son's discussion with her this morning...
Then again........my son in IOWA at Iowa State studying Computer Engineering gave his wife who watches their two small children while he attempts to create computers that will take over the world one day sent his wife to Miami for HIS Winter Semester Break so she could soak up the sunshine in Florida...
what a couple.. adore them... and she is... soaking in the tropical sunshine in sunny 63 degrees...
no snow suits there today...............not for her anyway....
Again................it's all relative...
And, Drudge who always has his eye in the sky.. finger on the pulse ... knows what the REAL story is today... NFL Playoff Games being affected by historic cold temperatures.
A gentle reminder that the NEXT WINTER STORM is going to a colder WINTER STORM.
ION is on it's way....
Keep watching... going to go through that list really fast this year..
we may even need a NEW list of names this year.. two lists for one year??
My money is on Senaca personally ;)

keep in touch :) but stay warm!
Ps... I woke up this morning around 5 AM and lay in bed, bundled under covers watching the stars outside twinkling and the tall Pine Trees to the West swaying and dancing in a winter ballet in the strong, gusty wind.
We had sustained winds of 28 MPH gusting to 35 MPH.. I was in heaven...
