TD 6/Franklin Dies, TD 7 Born....
As soon as the NHC wrote off Tropical Depression 7 aka Franklin, they passed the tropical scepter to the newest tropical system on the block... TD #7 in the Atlantic aiming for a possible rendezvous with Bermuda.
Took me a bit by surprise as the system behind it looks better than it does, but I suppose it's not as well developed. All that glitters is not gold in the tropical world it seems.
Note 7 is the one in the upper part of the pic... not the one coming onto the image on the bottom:
Wonderful discussion out of the NHC tonight by Beven, really love this part:
" A POTENTIAL COMPLICATION TO THE TRACK FORECAST IS SHOWN BY THE UKMET MODEL...
WHICH FORECASTS THE DEPRESSION TO EXPERIENCE ERRATIC MOTION DURING
THE NEXT 48 HR AS IT INTERACTS WITH A DISTURBANCE CURRENTLY ABOUT
400 N MI TO THE SOUTHEAST. IF SUCH INTERACTION OCCURS...IT WOULD
DELAY THE APPROACH OF THE DEPRESSION TO BERMUDA."

If he ever wanted to leave the field of Tropical Forecasting (and am sure he doesn't)) he might want to go into politics or become a lawyer. Did he cover all the bets or what? I love that phrase "erratic motion"... after Emily I'm beginning to think this is the year of the systems that should have been sent to reform school.
Anyway, either way it's on the map and we are tracking.
I keep wondering if this will go down as the season without a hurricane. I can see us at this rate getting all the way through the alphabet and waiting for the Greek letters to kick in before we have a real hurricane.........
As for me, going to bed and will think on the tropics in the morning. Personally, I'm paying the rain in Brooklyn holds off til later in the afternoon so we can party in the park vs plan B.
Take care and be well and may you all have sweet tropical dreams,
Bobbi
