Fast News... Very Sleepy Here

Good news .. bad news..

Seems the missing family in the Keys on the boat was found safe.

A man was killed at Dinner Key Marina. He lived on his boat, possibly a houseboat and he apparently died. Details will be forthcoming I am sure. Sad.. beautiful place I grew up near. Many summer afternoons watching sailboats twisting in the summer breeze.

Key West is getting slammed over and over by bands that are caught up in Katrina's circulation which has recently slowed to a crawl. storm is barely moving and all those cells are rotating around and about to hit again, and again..

going to be tons of damage down there that no one has figured in yet
new death in dade county confirmed, boat owner in dinner key.
lots of boat damage (minor hopefully) at dinner key and north bay village.. probably down in the keys as no one thought it would go south (except here at the city ya know..)
anyway.. just pointing out that key west is going to keep getting winds.. they are currently getting tropical storm force winds and have had for some time..

look at the reds on enhanced radar or sats that the Keys are getting.. they really were not prepared for this at all and its not going to be over for a while...

saw flooding at one of the airports on TV.. maybe Marathon?

Anyway... have my son and his girlfriend coming for dinner.. they still don't have electric in Miami Shores even though FPL was there for a long time, working through a heavy band trying to get the power back. Couldn't get trucks past the big avocado tree that's down. My other son up in Hollywood is coming for dinner with his fiance, they might not get electric til tomorrow night they were told.

I'm so tired. Staring up at the sky here. A dark, grey sky and the mango tree outside is bouncing around wildly still. Raindrops hitting the windows. Showers in the bands of a storm not so far away and intensifying.

Should be a Cat 3 much sooner than they are saying and as for land fall.. it's a very strong high and don't expect it to take the left track.. doubt Florida gets hit by this storm again.. maybe I'm wrong. But, I have been right about it often. Rarely pat myself on the back but I said over and over this was not Palm Beach's storm. Have a friend over at the Hurricane Center who jokes with me on many subjects and been there through hard times when my father was dying...he rarely sounds like he expects a storm to hit.. took Frances and Jeanne easily though this time.. he seemed concerned. Snonut told me it was a Miami storm. Wxamerica did.. LC.. just confirmed what I pretty much knew. That's why I had been saving soda bottles this week to refill with water in case we needed for washing. Why I bought $100 worth of supplies.. food, paper things.. etc... much we will use this week anyway. I really did know. Just glad that all we got was a Cat 1 and not a Cat 2.. because someone is going to get this beauty down the road and she will be a storm to remember... to be retired. A short, wild life.

Never count out a storm that makes it across the ocean despite being downgraded. This WAS and IS Depression #10..they can upgrade it or rename it but it is the same system. Burns taught me that a long time ago. Any wave that keeps going, hangs in (like Andrew...) never turn your back on it. Just because you think it is gone out of your life "POOF" doesn't mean it won't sneak up on you when you aren't looking. If it was going to die out.. would have done so.. was just hanging around over Haiti and Hispanola.. deciding what it wanted to do next.

going to take a nap, very sleepy... raining hard again, going to go watch the rain and smile
