Holiday Over. Back From My Western Vacation in Colorado! Snow, Freezing Fog ... Loved It! Southern Snow?? Could Raleigh Get SNOW? Been 3 Years...
Southern Snow on Saturday?
Snow in the South is the Holy Grail....
...for people who love snow as much as me.
Everyone here either hates it :(
or loves it !!!!
Less than 5 days away.
Snowflakes are on our Apps.
Local Weather people are talking on it.
The Weather Channel almost promises snow!
Well ...snow or some sort of winter P type
Snow
Ice
Wintry Mix
Freezing Rain
Choose one...
Above is the EURO.
Below is the GFS.
Is that weird? They almost agree........
Note I'm obsessing on Southern Snow.
But this is way bigger than just the South.
I'll blog tomorrow more on this Winter Storm.
Snow storms are not hurricanes.
They form in real time not far from their target.
We don't track them for weeks as we do Hurricanes.
They are tricky to nail down far out.
So check back tomorrow as I'm back to blogging.
There's just so many factors in the development of a wild winter Storm that moves across the landscape of the country bringing various types of winter weather to a wide array of cities and someone, somewhere will be seriously impacted by a wintry disaster while others are happy to get some snow, do a snow dance and know that winter loves them once again!
There's a more Northern hook there visible.
A flow from the South (more than one)
As everything moves West to East.
Snow is on the ground in Baltimore and VA.
Temperatures are low..
It's January!
It's supposed to be cold!!
I've been on vacation.........
....didn't realize I hadn't blogged in so long.
Whoah it's been a long time since I wrote. I've been busy and there hasn't been anything tropical going on, nor has there been any real "winter weather" to talk about until recently. I've had relatives by me for the holidays and I do mean relatives as different waves of guests and then I flew off to Colorado to see my son and his family and their new home in a suburb North of Denver. This was my second trip there, so I feel I connected to it better in Winter than in late Spring when I did see my only snow falling in 2023!
Went to Boulder on this trip. Finally!! LOL!!!
I live in Raleigh, North Carolina and it's been a good 3 years since Raleigh had a real snowfall and I do mean that really! I've seen snow in New York, Colorado but not in my backyard. It's been a long snow drought, and if Raleigh really does get snow this coming week or two then it'll be a big local event. There are newcomers who moved here after Covid who honestly think it never ever snows. There's just something about sitting on my balcony upstairs, bundled in a blanket sipping hot tea and watching snow falling silently onto the grass below or blowing onto the balcony.
So back in NC I went online.
Looped loops.
Peeked at models.
Watched TWC (for context and maps)
Looked at local weather, curiously.
Stared at a snowflake on my weather App.
I watched Weatherman Plus on YouTube
And of course Thor...
....Thor catches me up on News!
He's watching Texas (obviously)
I'm obsessing on Carolinas!
We both are watching fires in California...
Again I lived in LA a long time.
Close to a decade....
...fire is what LA fears not Earthquakes!
If you know you know....
LA fears fire like the Scarecrow feared fire ...
Had friends in Pacific Palisades, a beautiful place.
