May 1st. Tornado Warnings in Kansas and Models Showing Possible Development in the Caribbean Moving Near Florida and the Bahamas.

Tornado Warnings in Kansas and Nebraska. Storm chasers are out on the Plains live online and Facebook Live. As I type this Tim Reed and his crew are broadcasting live. Live as in you can hear the wind and see the wide open countryside. A large wall cloud approaching Otis Kansas and TWC is finally live on air covering tornadoes out in the Plains; not in Oklahoma but Kansas is close enough. Tim is doing a great job explaining what is going on in real time. We've been waiting for this weather to pop over the last few days and the severe weather event should go on through Thursday. This began a few hours ago when the first signs of trouble showed up on radar imagery.

Regarding the Hurricane Season  . . .

Back at the ranch people in the know are watching models that show possible development coming out of the Caribbean down the tropical road. This is the first time models have really consistently latched onto something that could get a name as a possible Subtropical Storm or as DaBah calls it a "tropical entity" and that would be because it came out of the tropics. Note I darkened the part of the discussion from Crown Weather because as I said days ago the pattern set up was ripe for development at the end of an old front dangling down deep in the tropics.

Weather doesn't wait for us to be ready for it or emotionally prepared to deal with another active hurricane season. Mother Nature does her thing when she wants and where she wants and we are really all along for the ride. The best thing about hurricanes is that you can prepare. You can buy what you need to get you through most hurricanes or tropical storms, you can hunker down with your family or your dog or even your pet rock. If you don't have a pet rock or dog may I suggest buying a Beta Fish they are cheap and don't eat much and you can have a "comfort fish" while waiting for Hurricane Chris to make landfall!

Just look at that again.
Incredible.
Blue skies in the opposite direction.

Seriously the coverage of the wide, wall cloud hovering over the Plains does get my heart racing a bit. I love weather. It is who I am.... blue skies are beautiful but dark stormy weather really wakes me up!

I'll be discussing where this year's hurricanes may track and how many we should be expecting. But much of this depends on when the NHC decides to name a questionable weak storm near land vs deciding to pass it off to the NWS as stormy weather. That's one reason I'm not much into making numbered predictions for the hurricane season but I will pass them along.

Stay tuned. Today is May 1st and we are one month away from the start of the Hurricane Season. Now is the time for you to start getting prepared or at least start making "To Do Lists" in your Bullet Journals or however you keep track of things you need to do.
