50 Shades of Green ..Tropical Update ...Rain FL...GOM

Models for the EPAC system...
...showing intrusion into the GOM

What does this mean from a tropical perspective?

Basically the areas in the sub tropics such as Florida are going to most likely get a good drenching of rain that originated in the tropics one way or the other. Green is the new color of the week at Starbucks. You remember the Unicorn Frappuchino This is the Start of the Hurricane Season Green Frappuccino available at Starbucks for the next week or so. Really should be a Latte as it's warm, humid and muggy but who drinks Lattes in Miami in June? Note the loop below shows where and how much rain there will be over areas that really need, desire and have been praying for rain of any kind with or without a name. No one cares where it comes from just make it rain!!

The whole rim of the Gulf of Mexico...
is colored in fifty shades of green.

Sorry I was away for an extended time as I was busy with a Jewish Holiday that sort of ushers in the start of summer and often the Hurricane Season. And sharing the fact that my father-in-law passed away Thursday morning early in his sleep. He's been ill and barely hanging in there for the last few months so while this was expected it's always sad, numbing and a lot of details to deal with immediately. Actually the details were mostly arranged weeks back, but time and travel details for relatives still need to be chiseled in while sipping bourbon and sharing memories. We did see him after getting into town on Tuesday at the hospital so perhaps he waited to see his son again who knows. Life and death is a lot like the Hurricane Season. You don't know for sure what day a baby will be born, you don't know for sure when you will die and you never know for sure what the Hurricane Season will be like until it's over.

Good to be "home" either way with kids, friends and family and the sudden appearance of summer rain in Florida. It always arrives on time one way or another be it monsoonal, or tropical moisture pulling up from the Gulf of Mexico.

You can see the moisture train up above.

And below you can see this in color.

And what you need to see as well...
...is the solid orange stream west at the ITZ
Westbound from Africa.
NE bound from the EPAC

The truth is that this is why the Hurricane Season begins on June 1st officially. Meteorological Summer begins on June 1st. At some point down the road things begin to roll and moisture wraps up into a ball of convection that gets a name. Models have been hinting at something but they have not been persistent nor has it been clear obvious if it would be anything more than rain merging with a stalled out front slowly trying to move South but not getting very far. See loop above....   Stay tuned.

And start making plans, buying supplies, hiding them somewhere so you or your family does not abuse the hurricane supplies before a named storm comes to call. Happens...

I'll be back with more info as we see how this evolves. If you are not on Twitter please join the Twitter world. That's where the immediate info is these days.
