Flooding. Charley Anniversary. Lauren Bacall remembered... Epic Wxr Movie Key Largo

No TROPICAL CYCLONE ACTIVITY...

However the mixing of the tropical air with cold fronts ...

caused huge flooding problems along the East Coast.

Note there is a huge swatch of moisture creating monumental flooding events from Raleigh to New England along the East Coast. There is nada, zero down in the Tropical Atlantic where we normally have a tropical storm or weak hurricane chugging along westbound.

I've said this before... and I'll say it again. Mother Nature always finds a way. You damn her up in one spot and she bleeds through in another. It's the way of the world. It's what keeps our atmosphere moving around this Planet in a healthy way.

Cold Air unusual for this time of year, but not unprecedented, caused the problems yesterday and today.

Lauren Bacall died yesterday of a ripe old age after an awesome life. Death is never something to be happy about, but a counterpoint to the sadness of Robin William's losing his life to the monkey forever on his back of depression.  Nope...nothing wrong with black and white.

I have to admit when I was a child I used to watch this movie....for the weather ;)

And a little annoyed with mets online & on air today trying to get "Global Warming" play out of this...sorry Charley but flooding happens and it happens more often during a Supermoon. Normally you get this sort of flooding from a hurricane like Hazel, Donna or Connie. Those were back in the Pre-Global Warming Days of the 1950s and 1960s. Back then it was just WEATHER... it was just a summer storm. It was warm, moist tropical air from the South slamming up against a cold hearted frontal system acting like the Grinch who Stole Summer...

The reason old timers in Raleigh remember Hazel is that she was so strong so far inland that RDU had hurricane force winds and like Fran she brought down Oaks all across the City of Oaks.

I do worry on pollution, global warming and lots of other things that go bump in the night or that glow in the skies. Pretty sunrises and sunsets are often caused by elements that humans put into the air...or blown in on a strong westerly breeze with the Saharan Dust. 

Remember...where Saharan Dust goes... hurricanes sometimes follow the same wind patterns.

Today is the Anniversary of Hurricane Charley. 10 years. Crazy but true. 

Hurricanes happen. Sometimes floods happen. Enjoy the beauty of the now when the wind is not blowing, the rain is not falling and the creek is not rising and remember the old adage "Turn Around Don't Drown" 

Since my daughter moved to Bayswater NY she uses her high tide app often. 

Had last night's strong rain storm occurred the night before the flooding would have been even worse...  Normally that's a pretty dry street with a great view of the water... over in Motts Basin not on the street or in the yard..
