Question Mark off South FL.. Bye bye Dolly.... CV Wave WSVN WXR PHIL FERRO
Seems like nothing is going on...
until you click on this link:

Then.........
Suddenly voila...there is something there.
Always remember to click that link...
We will discuss this way tomorrow...so check back then.
Closer to home is an area off the coast of South Florida that looks tantalizingly tropical but it's a hybrid convection cocktail of several elements.
1. A tropical wave. See official discussion below.
"A TROPICAL WAVE IS OVER THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN WITH AXIS MOVING OVER EASTERN CUBA...EXTENDING FROM 23N79W TO 14N80W MOVING W AT 15 KT. A CLUSTER OF MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION REMAINS OVER NORTHERN CUBA N OF 22N...BETWEEN 76W-80W. SCATTERED MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION IS PRESENT ALONG 20N BETWEEN 74W-84W."
2. Part of the Bermuda High and an ULL that is moving west spinning like a black hurricane with colorful convection caught up in it's jaws. On the East side of these ULL there is more convection usually than other places and you will hear on air meteorologists sometimes say "we're on the dirty side of an ULL"
"A 1020 MB HIGH IS OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC NEAR 32N60W. AT
UPPER LEVELS...AN ELONGATED UPPER LEVEL LOW IS CENTERED OVER NORTHERN CUBA NEAR 23N78W. SCATTERED MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION CONTINUES ALONG 77W BETWEEN 22N-29N. ELSEWHERE...ISOLATED MODERATE CONVECTION IS DEVELOPING ALONG 28N."
So...sometimes these sorts of ULL's can work their way down to the surface when they tangle it up with a westbound tropical wave. The water is warm and the ingredients are handy. So..keep watching. Keep checking back here and with your local weather sources if you live in Miami. My favorite is Phil Ferro at WSVN.
If anything happens worth mentioning that might affect the Florida weather scene Phil is there without hype and without acting as if he is Weather Superman blowing storms away with a single breath. I find way too many on air mets...especially in places like Florida...who have weather men on air who act like they put out the fire vs there was no real fire to begin with as if the story is about them not the weather. I hate that. Good to have a weather person you can trust and I trust Phil so passing that thought along while I'm on the road on and off line here.
Phil is honest, tells it like it is and is very well respected.
Yeah that red area that is just weather for now...off the coast of South Florida...
keep watching it for fun.. it's not like you got anything else to watch..
In 4 or 5 days we might have an Atlantic Hurricane to track, forecast and chase depending who is reading this but it's a long shot for now in a season with a drought in the Atlantic for developing cyclones capable of getting a name. Time will tell how the rest of the season plays out.
I still think South Florida could have a hurricane threat around Sept 16th, 17th... give or take the 18th or the week after. Looking at long range conditions that could bring tropical complications. Could... not hype....just pointing out the obvious.

Ps... Again... Dolly exits stage left.... a new wave enters stage right and there is a big question mark off the South Florida coast. Either way looks like a rainmaker for someone... somewhere.. maybe.
Bye bye Dolly...
See you in September... oh but it is September..
Keep watching the tropics.
Summer is over... but the tropics are just heating up...
