Short update Jose. NJ NY Southern New England and Other Hurricanes Yet to Be Named

It's very important when looking at cones and models for Jose not to panic and not to be afraid if you live in the fourth or fifth day part of the cone. Many metropolitan areas and Recreation areas where people live all year long such as Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard could feel effects from Hurricane Jose. Those effects could be a direct impact or it could be beach erosion, flooding, high winds and Riptides.

It is important to remember at higher latitudes north of 35 degrees north hurricanes spread out and their Windfield goes wide. They may decrease in intensity however the weather associated with them goes over a wider area. So it could stay off sure yet still present a serious danger.

Many models keep it off shore and take it out to see and other models take it directly over land. There's nothing new to this it's an old dance that we do every hurricane season. There is a possibility that the high pressure will build in and make going out to sea not an option. If that becomes apparent then we will have to talk about it and prepare for it. Even if Hurricane Jose becomes a category 2 even possibly a category 3 it will be weakened on approach to Long Island and Southern New England. Beaches in New Jersey could get blasted. That's just a reality. It's also a reality that it could hit Bermuda and spare the East Coast. As always watch the trend not the specifics of the cone. Three and four days out Miami was worried about landfall and Irma made landfall in the lower Keys.

I'm on the road now to Miami where I will be spending the weekend with some of the children and documenting damage and doing some research somewhere. Understand while Jose is important to watch there are other storms out there there are going to be big players down the road.

The hurricane season does not end because you want it to end. Just because you cry Uncle doesn't mean the hurricane is going to go away. We have years and years where nothing happens and then we have a year like this where it seems like every city along the coast is under the gun.

This hurricane season is going to go down in history as a metropolitan hurricane season. Hurricanes have hit multiple large metropolitan areas. And they aren't done yet.  The best thing you can be is informed to be prepared.

With regard to the storm behind Jose it is very possible that one of them could go into the island somewhere near the Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Hispaniola .... You know how the story ends... The Bahamas... Then at some point it either goes to Florida or it goes up towards the Carolinas. It could stay offshore or it could cruise up the coast. I said it before and I will say it again when there is a pattern set over the short-term the pattern repeats. I'm talking about long-range models that are fickle not reliable and change often based on what the actual tropical storm does in real time.

If heard any of you that have not been affected currently... try to be vigilant and prepared. Simple things like a battery-powered radio with the proper batteries and lots of them keeps you in touch with the world if you lose your power. Things like prepared coffee in cans or bottles that I can you just open up .....you know the expresso stuff that will feed your need for caffeine.

There is no certainty concerning Jose or his siblings behind him.... The only certainty is that you can prepare for a hurricane and listen to the proper authorities.

That's really my bottom line other than to tell you to keep watching keep checking back and everyone is doing the best they can to provide you with the best information possible.
Sorry for any typos but my phone is a little weird and I'm posting from the road.
