Alex Still Trying to Form in Atlantic. 40% Odd Things Happen This Year. Winter & the Tropics.

Hmnnn.
Subtropical Storm Alex?
Maybe.

Officially we are up to orange chances. 40% down the road. But with or without a name this storm will cause trouble for any mariners in it's way.

From the source... NHC discussion.

1. An extratropical low pressure system located over the central
Atlantic Ocean about 900 miles east of Bermuda is producing a large
area of gale-force winds and maximum winds of hurricane force.
Shower activity is currently limited near the center, but this low
could gradually acquire some subtropical or tropical characteristics
during the next few days while it moves southeastward and then
eastward into the eastern subtropical Atlantic. Regardless of
subtropical or tropical cyclone formation, this system is expected
to produce hazardous marine conditions over portions of the central
and eastern Atlantic for the next few days. For additional
information, see High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather
Service. The next Special Tropical Weather Outlook on this system
will be issued by 2 PM EST Monday.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent

Different color scheme. But you get the idea.
There is something there.
Is it Alex?
Time will tell.
Everyone's watching...

Looking good on loop.

Why I like this loop.

Now current image below.

There's a transformation going on.
And it's moving in the right direction to stay alive.

Watch that progression over time.
Making a good case for the name Alex.
But it will have to really prove itself to NHC for a name.

A real OH my goodness.

The "dip" this system is doing is visible below.
Getting far South and East.
See loop down below.

Impressive. Odd view.

Sort of like the odd view of watching Vikings kick go wide left.
I did scream. I'm a Seattle fan. Have been one since I lived on West Coast.

Getting low enough to be very visible on this loop below.

What's also visible is the cold front across the Southeast.

Florida had a tornado yesterday. EF-2!!
I have 2 kids waiting to take off in NY to go back to Miami.
Multiple airports. Weather is an issue on the East Coast today.

Warm day today here in Raleigh.
A cold north wind is blowing through suddenly.
I shut the window.
No more make believe it's Spring.

Winter is coming back.
But tell that to wannabe Alex.

Keep watching.

Sometimes unexpected things happen.

Will update as more information comes in..
