Fall in Raleigh!! Charities for Jamaica. CAG Has Storm Weather But Nothing More...

Nothing going on... thankfully.

Well a Coatal Low is set to form
Off the Carolinas.

Stormy weather down by the CAG
always bears watching but so far so good.

Old fronts stuck in tropical waters...
....cause tropical rainstorms.

Over 60 people have died from Hurricane Melissa. They are still going through areas in SW Jamaica where people are missing and the destruction is complete in all ways. Going through the rubble is a slow process. Reporting the dead is a slow process. There is no power. A few "pop up" WIFI areas where locals can contact loved ones to tell them they are alive. Josh Morgerman posted this incredible poignant photograph with a local using the WIFI site to let loved ones know he is alive.

@icyclone really is a photo journalist.
He captures the raw, real moments of life there.
In the darkness, a pop-up WIFI lounge.
Only link to the outside world.
"We're okay but we lost everything"
"No house. No nothing"
That's the reality there.

There's nothing on the NOAA maps.
That should make many very happy.

There's not much else to say this Sunday when some are grouchy we change the clocks back and other's don't care or are happy to have earlier sunsets! Which ever person you are your life is much better than had a Cat 5 Hurricane rearranged your life, your world and shaken your very foundation. Important to really appreciate the small things that are really not so small. I took a walk this morning while the sun would out bright so that I could catch some images I wanted to share with a friend. So sharing it here as well as it's good to see beauty everywhere.

I swear I stood there and said a prayer.
A prayer of thanks!
The blue really was that bright!

Last year was hard in North Carolina, the weight of the tragedy in the Western part of this amazing long horizontal state that's framed in the West by the mountains and to the East by the Ocean... we all felt the weight of Post Helene giving charity, collecting food and trying to help anyone in any way we could. Everyone has friends in that part of the world, I have cousins who bought a second house in Asheville that survived way better than others, yet you can escape the sadness all around you there.  In South Florida there are collection sites with a "wish list" so people know where to donate and it is being flown into Jamaica.

But some parts of Jamaica are easier to get into than hacking through a defoiliated landscape, with mud in low lying places where homes, lives and people used to live is a difficult job and it goes on all day, every day as they move forward.

I'm happy to be able to just wander down the road to the few places that show inspiring color and give thanks. I do so love it here. I love a lot of places. I love Miami. I love Key West. I love Seattle. I love New Orleans. But Fall in the Carolinas is a unique, pleasure and I love to drink up as much as possible. So that's what I'm doing today. Watching a football game where the Green Bay Packers are not wearing green but gold and navy (very disconcerting) and the Carolina Panthers look normal in their regular uniforms. They are playing in Green Bay where it's cold, colder than Charlotte North Carolina.

Mike put this very well.
Melissa name joins...
list of M names.
Milton
Michael
Maria
Matthew
For retirement.

Lord knows what M name they will choose
Just saying it's been a bit unlucky in recent years.
I name storms have been as well.

So...........reminding y'all to donate whatever you can. If we all donate, the small donations add up and make a difference.

Mike is going with this charity and I'm going with whatever charity Mike feels is best as he gets feedback from people on the ground there who have said it'sa good charity.
