30 Days Til Hurricane Season. 1 Month to Go... Unless Something Pops Up Before June 1st....

Wrightsville Beach this past Sunday ...
...taken from the awesome pier.

As there are no hurricanes today rather than redundantly showing you left over moisture from decaying cold fronts I'm going to remind you that tropical trouble early in the season often happens from dangling cold fronts sitting over warm water.  That's not hawking the hurricane season or hyping it, we are within the 30 day time frame and this is the time for YOU to prepare, get a plan, think on your options and begin compiling hurricane supplies.

Long range model.
Consistently showing something odd...
Kind of like a subtropical system off the East Coast.
Carolins and Virginia be watching...

As always I remind you that when the models do this for the long term window (a week or more away) they aren't to be believed or hyped, but they are a sign of the times.  Once the water warms up we begin to take them a bit more seriously, though it's not that unusual for a May or June Invest pops up off the coastline and onshore winds get seriously strong. I was at the pier staring at the weather scroll they have up on the backboard behind the counter and the wind was steady at 21.5 MPH. The fishermen on the pier were not happy... I was elated and enjoying every moment!

I was happy to feel the strong beach breeze, a bit cool as it's still early May yet the sun was warm and it felt glorious. Eventually I went down to the beach and felt the cold waves dance with my toes and I giggled. Because this is that time of year when you can almost feel summer on her way.

Tornadoes in Oklahoma and wild severe thunderstorms snaking their way across the Carolinas. Less and less fronts make it down to Florida.

It's just that time of year.
When you see stubborn convection.........
....at the tail end of a cold front.
An old front...
... you wonder on possibilities down the road.
Models suggest odd solutions.

Tropical Storm Bonnie formed in this region.
So did Hurricane Alex before her...
..in the same region.
Tropical Formation grounds in May and June.

Whether tropical weather forms........
...or it doesn't.
Hurricane Preparation is the name of the game.

Get a plan.
Options are always good!
