Updated 5 PM - Beryl Barometer Dropping But Still 65 MPH..... Forecast to be Hurricane Beryl Again by NHC .... Looking Better Frame by Frame... Heed ALL Warnings From NWS & NHC IF You Are in the Warned Area!
Looks beautiful above.
A bit wanting below.
This is a Water Vapor Image. Orange is dry air, orange and gold is dry air. Blue is moisture. I will say Beryl closed off the circle protecting her core from the Dry Air (seen in orange) but it's a tough task to expect it to intensify while struggling to keep the dry air out even over hot water. And, yet the NHC has stuck with the Hurricane by landfall so that's the official bottom line.
Forecast Discussion from NHC
My opinion here really doesn't matter. Reality is that it's a huge package of weather that will cause high surf (already is...) and a lot of rain. There's the added chance of tornadoes in it's bands as it comes on shore. I was out for a few hours, came home and watched TWC coverage for a few minutes and looking beautifully tropical in Rockport, Texas.
I've looked at various radar apps on my phone and they all show it very tightly wound up at landfall. Wouldn't surprise me. Not willing to bet against the NHC that it'll stay 65 MPH. Weather is weather, luckily they missed the Major Hurricane version of Beryl.
Beryl has a look on Visible Imagery.
When I believe the NHC is off...
...I'll say what I think.
It's a close call.
Time will tell.
Is what it is...
..wish I was there.
Radar gets better and better.

Beryl does seem very proud of itself.
Happy Face there kind of...
Not a Killer CAT 4 anymore.
So let's all be happy for that~
We have a strong Tropical Storm just off of Texas, forecast to become a Hurricane before landfall and Texas has a history of getting swamped from Tropical Storms and even sometimes Tropical Depressions. It's the lay of the land, the lay of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico near the shoreline; maybe just the way of the world. Boring looking systems suddenly come alive at landfall on radar with precise banding and beautiful spin and they dump tons of rain on Texas...at the coast, inland and rivers swell and flooding happens.
So let's not obsess on what it once was and deal with what it is today. And, had this not been a Cat 5 Major Hurricane, it would be the story of early July that a named storm was washing ashore near the many beautiful bays of Texas towards a date with Houston. What is.......is more important right now...than what it once was.
Half of the people on social media want Beryl to die, they are done with it and others are hyping up the small chance it could intensify to Cat 2 before landfall.
Let's look at the NHC Cone.....
65 MPH
Hoping it does the Wildlife Refuge...
...vs a small city.
However the issues is flooding.
Tides. Heavy Rain.
Tides. Heavy Rain.
Across a wide area...
someplace gets hurricane winds!
Discussion
NHC stands by it's gal!
Hurricane.
Truth is I'm tired and in a mood. Trip postponed til next week and that works better for me to be honest, so gonna hang out and watch Beryl do it's thing and I'll do my thing. Bottom line is Beryl may not be as good as it once was, but back in it's prime Beryl was mean and it would be nice to not have a mean landfall but a doable one that still will deliver way too much rain and tropical misery.
Will watch it today, will see and I do think it'll come in where I said...where NHC has said and where several I respect online who have weighed in.... and Beryl being Beryl should spruce up for landfall. We will find out soon. If you live in the warned areas, please take this serious and ignore that it once was a Cat 5 and remember you have Hurricane Warnings and a forecast hurricane knocking at your door so pay attention and take this seriously. Praying it's a light hit and everyone can whine and bitch they prepared for nothing and it was over hyped! And, if you prepared and stocked up ...lock those supplies up under lock and key was we have only just begun the 2024 Hurricane Season. We are in search of the D storm, Debby and Beryl is making landfall after being a kick ass tropical wave rolling off of Africa that most (but not me) laughed at as too early, too soon because it was June but June was not too soon, July was not too early and it is what it is so deal with it!

Enjoy the song. Someone here knows this and since it's MY secret to tell, back when I was a kid it was very annoying that everyone had middle names and I did not have one so after a short time of calling myself a long name... I'd nod and say "yeah Bobbi Jo but I go by just Bobbi" :) Hey, not easy not having a middle name to complain about. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do........ Enjoy the song!!
