Tropical Storm Bill Forms in the Atlantic. 70% Chances of Claudette Forming in the GOM. Never Forget Our African Wave Invest #94L
Last night while all the attention was on the BOC system that we have been watching for days it became obvious that the area off of the Carolinas was closing off and tightening up. Models are wonderful guides for meteorologists to use but you can't ignore what is actually happening and ignore areas that have less model support but show development. I posted a picture and tweeted I felt it was closing off and therefore would be a viable tropical system.
Last night it looked ready for prime time.
Tonight it's pulled itself together and is a Tropical Storm.
Bill is a small tight cyclone headed out to sea.
It could clip Newfoundland but we'll see.
Next name up is Claudette.
Claudette could be our GOM storm.
While it may take a while.....
....Claudette could form and be a big problem.
Some storms pull together fast. Friends in South Carolina waxed poetic on the strength of the system that blew past them and landed in the Atlantic looking quite ready to come together. It was ignored. The hype about the GOM Invest has been off the charts and in truth it could present a problem down the road but that's down the road. More so should the extreme long shot Invest 94L in the distant Atlantic it could also be a long term problem but the reality is that it has a long way to go and it would be vastly against the odds but 2021 may be that sort of difficult season where long shots play out. Hurricane Florence crossed the Atlantic against all the odds, and I knew it could do it, but should 94L stay alive until it's in our part of the world where it could make trouble... it would be a sign that this season is a mean season indeed. Maybe we have lots of named storms and they wander about out at sea or swim away like a Fish Storm.
Only time will tell. We track and watch in real time. But now is the time to buy supplies and prepare for the Hurricane Season.
When Mother Nature flips the switch and the Hurricane Season begins... there's no turning back. So, get a plan and take it one day at a time. But stay informed and keep checking back here.

Don't be afraid of hurricanes, be afraid of patterns that produce multiple hurricanes later in the season following a similar track with some variation.
